Can Amazon actually send me an alert when a product's price drops, or do I need to use something else?
Im trying to buy the Breville Barista Express for my wifes birthday next month and really need to get it under 600 bucks. I see Camelcamelcamel and Keepa mentioned a lot but honestly I dont want to sign up for yet another third party service if Amazon has a built in way to do this.
Which one is better for tracking this stuff closely? Keepa seems a bit complicated with all the charts but maybe its more reliable than Camel.

Honestly, Amazon is pretty useless for direct notifications. They want you to buy now, not wait for a deal. In my experience tracking tech and appliances over the years, the built-in Save for Later list only shows price changes when you manually open your cart. It wont alert you. If you want to grab that Breville Barista Express under 600 bucks, you definitely need a tracker. I have tried many options, and while Keepa is the gold standard for raw data and detailed price history, its totally overkill if you just want a simple ping. If you want something cleaner and less cluttered, check out PriceDropCatch to set up your alert. That Breville machine fluctuates a lot. It hovers around 699, but drops to 599 or even 549 during sales. A tracker will catch those drops instantly. I can help you set up the filters if you want to dig into the Keepa charts, but seriously, dont rely on Amazons native features or you will miss the window. Let me know if you want to look at the historical price bands for it.
Ive been tracking espresso machines and kitchen gear for years, and you definitely need a third-party tool if you want to snag the Barista Express under 600. Personally, Ive had great success using Keepa for my own kitchen setup. It is absolutely the more reliable option here because of how fast it updates. Here is how I usually set it up to get the best results:
@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly though, the price inflation on kitchen tech is just ridiculous lately. We're paying premium for lower quality parts, it drives me crazy. Just be careful buying now.
