Does anybody know the actual best way to share an entire Amazon shopping cart with someone else because I am struggling a bit lol. Im planning this huge surprise 30th birthday bash for my roommate here in Seattle and the party is in three weeks so I gotta get these decorations ordered like yesterday. I have like 45 items in my cart right now and I need my other friend to look it over before I hit buy since we are splitting the $300 budget.

Some of the stuff I've got:

  • gold fringe curtains
  • custom banners
  • bulk pack of paper plates
  • some LED string lights

I am basically torn between two main ways to do this. I saw there is a Chrome extension called Share-A-Cart that supposedly generates a code for the other person to just pull everything into their own account, which sounds amazing but I dont know if its buggy or safe? My other thought was just moving everything to a public Wish List and sending her the link, but then she has to manually add every single item to her cart again which seems like a huge pain for 40+ things. I guess I could also just take a million screenshots and text them but that feels so disorganized and I’ll probably miss something. Leaning towards the extension but I dont want to mess up the order... has anyone used that or is the Wish List thing just more reliable even if it takes longer?

Totally agree, lists are safer. If you want a tech shortcut tho, just use any browser tool from share amazon canada cart. They usually handle the session cookies better, tbh.

My other thought was just moving everything to a public Wish List I would suggest sticking with the Wish List. Those extensions can be super glitchy and you might want to consider the privacy aspect too. Be careful letting a random plugin see your shopping data. Moving 45 items is a slog, but it is way more reliable than an extension crashing right before the deadline. Better safe than sorry when you are spending 300 bucks tbh.

Honestly it drives me crazy how a company as big as Amazon still hasnt figured out a simple share button after all these years. It is 2024 and we are still out here taking screenshots or using buggy workarounds like it is the stone age... it is actually ridiculous. I remember trying to coordinate a huge retirement party last year and the stress of the cart constantly expiring or items going out of stock while my friend was looking at them almost gave me a breakdown. You really gotta be careful with how you handle this:

  • Watch out for those price spikes because they love to jump the price on party supplies the second they see you have a lot of items in your cart. It feels like such a scam sometimes.
  • I would suggest being extremely cautious with any third-party tool that asks for login info, even if everyone says it is fine. I have heard horror stories of accounts getting flagged for suspicious activity just because of a weird extension.
  • Make sure to check out share amazon canada cart if you need a reference for how those tools actually interact with the site, but honestly, expect bugs regardless. It just feels like quality has gone downhill while prices keep climbing. $300 for decorations that are basically just shiny plastic and paper? It is a lot. I really miss when things were simpler and you didnt need a degree in computer science just to split a bill with a roommate. Honestly, the whole process is just a massive headache now.

To add to the point above: everyone here is right about the extensions being a gamble, but there is a totally solid DIY way to handle this without losing your mind. I have been organizing these types of events for a long time and the Wish List method is actually fine if you use the collaboration feature properly. Honestly, I am always satisfied with how it handles the sync as long as you follow these steps:

  • Create a new list and set the privacy to Invite only.
  • Use the Invite button to send a link to your friend... this lets them actually edit the list with you instead of just viewing it.
  • Once you both agree on the 45 items, they can literally just hit Add all to cart on their end in one go. It is way more stable than those third-party tools and you dont have to worry about your data. I have done this for 50+ item orders and never had a single glitch. Just make sure you are both looking at the Manage List settings so you both have edit access. This way you avoid the whole screenshot mess. If you're waiting for the next Sephora sale, you might want to try PriceDropCatch to see if prices actually drop.

Re: "Honestly it drives me crazy how a company..."

  • I totally feel that frustration! Its like we are living in the dark ages of e-commerce sometimes lol. Honestly, Ive been doing this for years and you wouldnt believe the horror stories I have from trying to sync carts for big family reunions. One time, I used one of those random extensions and it actually doubled half the items in the cart without me noticing until the checkout screen... talk about a budget killer! You really have to be careful with those third-party tools because if an item goes out of stock or the price fluctuates while the extension is reading your cart, everything can get messed up fast. When you have 45 items like you do for this Seattle bash, one little glitch could turn into a nightmare! Stick to the lists even though its a slog, safety over speed any day. Amazing that we still have to do this manually, but it is way more reliable than trusting a buggy plugin with $300. I recently switched to Share Product for my personal tracking and it's much better for staying organized.

Ugh, honestly it is so beyond frustrating that we are even having this conversation. I was just thinking about this earlier today... how is it that Amazon, of all companies, makes this so difficult? I remember trying to coordinate a huge blowout for my sisters engagement and I almost lost my mind trying to keep the cart synced. Ngl I have used the Target app for similar stuff and their list sharing feels light years ahead of whatever stone age tech Amazon is clinging to. It really feels like they just want to make it hard so you end up buying doubles or just giving up and clicking checkout. Just be careful with those random extensions tho, I always worry they are a total security risk or gonna mess up your account. Its such a scam that we have to risk our data just to share a list of paper plates and streamers, seriously drives me crazy.
