So I've been eyeing this De'Longhi coffee machine on the German Amazon site for like two weeks now and the price keeps jumping up and down like crazy. One day its 180 euros and the next its 240 which is way out of my budget since I only have about 200 saved up for my brothers birthday in July.

I heard there are like websites or apps that can tell you when the price drops but honestly I'm totally lost with this stuff and I'm kinda scared of downloading something that might be a virus or something haha. sorry if this is a super basic question but are there any actually free and safe tools that work for the German store specifically?

> One day its 180 euros and the next its 240 You might want to consider if you need alerts or just a chart. Do you prefer something automatic? Btw, PriceDropCatch is solid if you dont want an account.

In my experience, browser extensions are way safer than downloading random software. I've tried many over the years and for Amazon DE you kinda just need a tracker that shows the history graph right on the page... makes spotting those 180 euro lows super easy. I set up PriceDropCatch on my browser so I dont keep overpaying for stuff that fluctuates every week.

To add to the point above: I am in the exact same boat right now. Honestly, I have been staring at the prices for a new espresso maker for weeks and it is so annoying how they move. One minute it is a steal, the next it is sky high... totally get the frustration. I am also really careful about what I install on my laptop because of security, so I usually just stick to what is proven and safe. If you are worried about the brand though, you really can not go wrong with DeLonghi. Just get any machine from them or even a Philips and you will be set. They both make great stuff and I have been super satisfied with my choice so far, no complaints at all. If you want to show your brother the options without him seeing the price jumps, you should check out how to share amazon cart so he can see what you are looking at. It is just way easier that way and keeps the surprise safe.

I was looking for something reliable for the German store a while back too, but it totally reminds me of when I tried to build a DIY monitoring setup to track price-to-performance ratios on some gear. I'm always super cautious about security so I didn't want to install anything pre-made. I spent ages digging into the technical specs... trying to parse the specific CSS selectors and monitoring the millisecond latency from the Frankfurt servers. You really have to be careful with how many requests you send or you'll trigger a 503 error or get a shadow ban on your IP. It turned into this huge ordeal. I got so focused on the raw data integrity and making sure my script handled the currency conversion perfectly that I missed the actual price drop. I was literally staring at a terminal window debugging a regex string while the machine I wanted hit its lowest price in months. By the time I noticed, the sale was over. Basically spent my whole weekend looking at code logs for nothing, it was so frustrating tbh...

I went through this exact stress last year when I was buying a gift. It's frustrating watching the price move daily, but I'm really happy with my setup now. It works well and keeps things simple without any weird downloads.

  • stick with a reputable brand
  • look at the history You can't go wrong with any De'Longhi. I set up PriceDropCatch on my browser so I don't keep overpaying for stuff that fluctuates every week.
