So I'm moving into a new place in Chicago next Thursday and I'm trying to figure out a mounting situation that wont give me a headache later. I've put up dozens of TVs over the years and usually just grab whatever tilt mount is on sale at Best Buy but Sony is making it difficult lately. My current set is an older X900H which is fine but I'm planning on grabbing an A80L or whatever the newest OLED is in a few months.
My logic was to just get a universal VESA mount and call it a day but I noticed the VESA holes on the newer Sonys are positioned way lower on the back of the panel than my current one. It makes the height math a total nightmare if I want to swap them later without drilling more holes in the drywall. Plus some of the mounts I looked at seem to block the optical out or the power brick area because of how Sony designs that bottom bump. I was thinking maybe the official Sony SU-WL855 but it costs a fortune and I dont know if it plays nice with the older VESA patterns or if it's strictly for the newer slim models.
Do you guys have a go-to brand that actually accounts for the weird weight distribution and port access on Bravias? I really want something low profile but I'm terrified of the ports being inaccessible once it's on the wall...
Tbh Sony SU-WL855 Ultra Slim Wall Mount is perfect for access, but Sanus VLF728-B2 Advanced Full-Motion Mount is better for swapping models without redrilling, tho its way bulkier...
> I was thinking maybe the official Sony SU-WL855 but it costs a fortune Stumbled upon this late. Honestly, save the cash. I am super satisfied with the Echogear EGLT3 Tilting TV Wall Mount. It has a wide open back plate so your ports and power brick stay clear, and it is way cheaper than the official Sony gear. The vertical rails have plenty of holes to adjust for that weird Sony VESA offset too. No complaints on my end.
+1
Just catching up on this. You really need to be cautious with the vertical offset on these newer Bravias.
