I just got a Sony 4K tv and I'm totally lost on what gaming stuff to buy for it. sorry if this is a basic question but I have no idea where to start.

  • budget is $200
  • for ps5 casual gaming
  • need it by friday

what accessories are actually worth getting?

TL;DR: Grab the Sony DualSense Wireless Controller White PS5. I unfortunately bought a cheap knockoff that died mid-game, so honestly, sticking to the official Sony gear is your safest bet.

I've tested many setups over the years, and honestly you want to maximize that HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and the 3D audio. Since you're on a $200 budget, these are my picks:

Agreed, official is better. Unfortunately wasted cash on some cheap thumb grips that kept slipping off, so disappointing...

  • how far back do you sit?
  • do you need extra storage?

To add to the point above: those previous picks for the controller and storage are basically the gold standard for a reason. I used to be a total Sony purist when I first got my 4K set, but I have actually been really satisfied with some budget-friendly alternatives after experimenting with different setups for a few years. It's totally possible to get a great experience without spending the full 200 on just one or two items.

  • For audio, I eventually picked up the <a href=" https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt= SteelSeries+Arctis+Nova+1P+Wired+Gaming+Headset&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1P Wired Gaming Headset and it has been great. No complaints at all about the sound and it feels way lighter on the head than the official ones if you're gaming for a few hours.
  • If the higher-end SSDs are too pricey right now, I have been using the Western Digital WD_BLACK SN770 1TB NVMe SSD in my console for months. It loads everything instantly and saves a decent chunk of change.
  • Since you need it by Friday, if the other cables mentioned are out of stock, the Ugreen HDMI 2.1 Cable 8K 60Hz 4K 120Hz is a solid budget pick that has been perfectly stable for my 4K 120Hz gaming. I basically learned that you dont always have to pay the brand tax to get a top-tier experience... hopefully you can get everything delivered in time for the weekend!

Ive been through quite a few setups over the years and honestly, the biggest mistake I made was neglecting power protection. A storm fried my high-end monitor once and it really sucked. Since you're using a nice Sony TV and a PS5, keeping them safe is a smart move. Also, that internal drive on the PS5 disappears fast once you download a few big titles, so extra storage is a decent option. Here are my picks for reliability:
