I have a 14-hour flight coming up and really need top-tier noise cancellation to block out that constant engine drone. Comfort is a huge priority since I’ll be wearing them for hours, and I need a battery that won't die mid-trip. Between the XM4 and XM5, which Sony model is actually better for sleeping on long-hauls?
> "honestly i took a 14-hour flight with my Sony WH-1000XM4... for sleeping, the XM4 hinges are" This^ Also wanted to add that from a technical perspective, the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are literally the smarter buy for travelers. I've looked at the frequency response graphs and the XM4's QN1 processor is still top-tier for blocking out that 100-200Hz engine hum, which is exactly what you need for a 14-hour grind. The Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are amazing, but they dont fold flat, which is a total pain in a cramped cabin, right? If you wanna save some serious cash, the XM4 is basically 95% of the performance for way less money. Also, for a budget-friendly sleeper pick, check out the Sony WH-CH720N Noise Canceling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones. They actually use the same Integrated Processor V1 as the XM5 but they're way lighter on your head for sleeping... basically feels like you aren't wearing anything, you know? But for the full flight, I'd LOVE to see you stick with the XM4s for that plush padding. gl!
honestly i took a 14-hour flight with my Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Canceling Overhead Headphones and they worked SO well. technically the Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones have an extra processor for noise cancellation, but the XM4s fold into a much smaller footprint. for sleeping, the XM4 hinges are also more forgiving against a neck pillow. basically, the older design is just better for long-hauls. gl!
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
