I've been hitting the gym way more lately because I finally signed up for that half-marathon in October - local race here in Seattle so I'm expecting at least a little bit of drizzle during my training runs. I really want to stick with Sony because I love their sound profile but I'm getting such mixed signals from all the reviews online.
I saw a bunch of people recommending the WH-1000XM5s because the noise canceling is top tier and I'd love to block out the annoying gym music, but then other threads say they're actually terrible for workouts because the ear pads get all gross with sweat and they might slip off my head during sprints. Then I looked at the LinkBuds S which seem way better for sweat resistance but I'm worried the battery wont actually last through my longer 2-hour weekend runs if I have the ANC cranked up the whole time.
I've got about $300 max to spend and I need to get these ordered by Friday before I head out on a trip. Is there a specific Sony model that hits the sweet spot for staying put while running but still handles the gym environment well?
I tried my Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones for a rainy run once and it was a mess. They just slide around too much when you start sweating. I switched to the Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Earbuds for my marathon prep. They stay secure even during sprints, and the battery easily hits that 2-hour mark with ANC on. Definitely a more reliable option for Seattle weather.
