So I just dropped way too much money on the a7 IV and now I'm staring at my bank account like why did I do this. I've got a wedding gig in Chicago next weekend and I realized I literally have nothing to mount my mic or even hold the camera comfortably for long video takes. I'm tearing my hair out trying to decide on a cage system and every youtube video says something different.
Right now I'm looking at:
- The basic SmallRig Black Mamba cage because it looks sleek but I'm worried it's too flimsy?
- The Tiltaing kit because the handle looks nice but is it worth the extra 80 bucks??
- Or just going crazy and getting a Kondor Blue set because I like the blue accents but honestly it seems overpriced for what it is.
My budget is pretty much capped at 350-400 dollars for everything including a handle and maybe a decent v-mount plate or something if I can squeeze it in. I need it to be light because I'm gonna be running around for 10 hours straight and my wrists already hurt thinking about it. Is the SmallRig enough or am I gonna regret not getting something more pro like the Tilta stuff? Also do I actually need a top handle or can I get away with just a side one? I'm so lost...

Honestly, dont overthink it! SmallRig is fantastic and way tougher than it looks. I love the SmallRig Black Mamba Cage for Sony Alpha 7 IV 3667 because it is super light for those long wedding days. You definitely need a top handle tho, it makes carrying the rig so much easier!!

If youre doing 10-hour days, look at the Tilta Full Camera Cage for Sony a7 IV TA-T30-FCC-B. It is a solid middle ground between basic and high-end.
- Tilta: Great modular system, integrated tools are handy.
- Kondor Blue Sony a7 IV Cage: Tougher build, but costs more for aesthetics. Go with Tilta and a Tiltaing NATO Top Handle. Its reliable and leaves budget for a SmallRig V Mount Battery Plate 2988.

Regarding what #2 said about 10-hour days, look at the SmallRig Side Handle with Wireless Control 3902. I'm satisfied because it works well and honestly saves my wrists during long wedding days.
