I'm trying to decide between the new Sony a7C II and the Nikon Zf for my next camera purchase. From the specs, they seem fairly comparable in terms of image quality and features. The Sony is lighter and more compact, while the Nikon has better battery life and an integrated grip.

Have any of you had a chance to handle or shoot with either of these cameras yet? I'm really torn between the two and would appreciate hearing some hands-on impressions and opinions to help make my decision. Thanks in advance for your input!

As someone who owns and shoots with both the Nikon Zf and original Sony a7C, here are my thoughts:

The Nikon definitely has the advantge in the physical handling department. The deeper grip and overall heftier build make it more pleasant and stable to shoot with for extended periods, especially when using larger lenses. Battery life is excellent as well.

However, the Sony is the clear winner when it comes to autofocus speed and tracking capabilities, which is critical for the sort of sports/action shooting that I do. The eye AF implementation in particular is much better on the Sony system.

So for my needs, the autofocus edge gives Sony the overall advantage despite Nikon's handling superiority. But both are phenomenal cameras. I'm really leaning towards upgrading to the a7C II when my budget allows for the improved AF performance and video capabilities.

When comparing the Sony A7C II and the Nikon ZF, the differences in features and qualities become quite apparent.

Firstly, the Sony A7C II seems to be the heavier of the two with unique features. Additionally, it boasts a larger and more legible top display compared to the ZFC style of the Nikon ZF.

In terms of performance, the Sony A7C II offers superior video capabilities and advanced features. It also outperforms its predecessor, and its high FPS rates and in-body image stabilization make it an attractive option for both photography and videography enthusiasts.

On the other hand, the Nikon ZF is powered by the Xpeed 7 processor and offers diverse shooting modes and control over exposure settings, which could be a standout feature for those who like to have more control over their shooting experience.

Furthermore, the Sony A7C II uses the NPFZ100 battery and offers significant improvements in autofocus and resolution, enhancing its appeal for users looking for enhanced performance.

In conclusion, both cameras have their own strengths and unique features, and the choice between them would largely depend on the specific needs and preferences of the user.

Go for the Sony a7C II if You'll be shooting a lot of video (Sony has better video specs/features),

On the other hand, pick the Nikon Zf if You prefer the retro styling and dedicated dials for quick settings control

I just got the Sony a7C II a couple weeks ago and have been really impressed with it so far. The compact size makes it so convenient to carry around, yet it doesn't sacrifice performance or image quality. The new menu system is also really intuitive and easy to navigate.

My only complaint so far is that the battery life isn't amazing, but it's not a deal breaker for me since I always carry a couple spares. I definitely prefer the smaller form factor of the Sony over the slightly bulkier size and grip of the Nikon. But that could just come down to personal preference.
