I'm looking to get a new camera primarily for street photography and I've narrowed it down to the Sony a7C II and the Sony a7 IV. I know both are great full-frame mirrorless cameras, but I'm wondering which one would be better suited for street shooting.

Some key factors for me:

  • Compact size and weight for portability and discretion
  • Fast and accurate autofocus for capturing candid moments
  • Good low light performance for shooting in various lighting conditions
  • Solid build quality to withstand daily carry and use

I like that the a7C II has a more compact body style which could blend in better for street photography. But the a7 IV has the latest autofocus and better image quality.

For those who shoot street photography with either of these cameras, what has your experience been? Do you find the a7 IV's capabilities to be worth the larger size compared to the a7C II for this use case? Is weather-sealing a significant factor?

Any insights or recommendations to help me decide between these two would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

a7CII is most compact, while a7IV is the most powerful. For me to choose, I will get a7CII, or just wait a7v.

Get both, one day for a7C II, one day for a7 IV.
