Coming back to check this thread... just curious tho, what are you actually planning to shoot with it? Like is it mostly birds in flight or are you doing more studio and landscape work? Knowing that helps narrow things down. Honestly i have been using my a1 for a couple years now and i am still totally satisfied. It just works well and i have zero complaints about the performance even with the new stuff coming out. At $1000 off its kinda hard to beat.

• Sony Alpha a1 Mirrorless Digital Camera: The readout speed is still top tier and 50MP at 30fps is plenty for basically everyone.
• Sony Alpha a1 II Mirrorless Camera: You are mostly paying for the new AI autofocus chip and the better tilt screen. Nice to have but is it worth the massive price gap? Probably not for most of us.
• Sony Alpha a7R V Mirrorless Camera: If you dont care about the stacked sensor speed, this is way cheaper and has the same high res sensor and the fancy AI autofocus. I really think the original a1 is the play here while the deals are live. Unless you absolutely need that specific subject recognition for something niche, the older body is still a beast.
