Has there been any recent price drop on the Sony FX3? I've been considering purchasing one, but I'm hoping to catch it at a lower price. Any updates or insights on current pricing would be appreciated!

Honestly been watching the prices for months and the FX3 is stubborn as hell. It barely moves unless there is a major site-wide sale. I ended up going a different route to save some cash for glass because the body alone eats the whole budget.

  • Look at the Sony ZV-E1 Mirrorless Camera. It has the same 12MP sensor as the FX3 but costs way less. You lose the internal fan and some ports but the image is basically identical.
  • If you arent married to Sony, the Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX is a beast for video and much cheaper than the FX3.
  • Check used markets like MPB or KEH. I grabbed a used body last year and saved about 400 bucks which basically paid for my cage and half a lens. Prices for the FX3 stay high because pros keep buying them at full price for work. Unless you really need that specific XLR handle and the internal cooling for 8-hour shoots, there are definitely cheaper ways to get that 4K120 look.

Building on the earlier suggestion, i have been refreshing tabs like a maniac trying to find a legit deal on this beast too! Honestly, the technical specs on the FX3 are just fantastic... the 12.1MP Exmor R sensor combined with that active cooling system is exactly what i need to avoid thermal throttling during long 10-bit 4:2:2 shoots! Ngl i am super worried about where i actually pull the trigger tho. You gotta be really cautious with those super low prices you see on sketchy sites because a lot of them are grey market imports. If you buy one without an official warranty and that fan assembly fails or the sensor develops hot pixels, youre basically stuck with a very expensive paperweight. Reliability is everything for pro work and i just cant risk a unit that wont be serviced by the manufacturer. Still hunting for a legitimate discount just like you!
