tbh since you just invested in that 61MP sensor you really need to be *cautious* about how you spend the rest of ur budget because travel can be rough on gear and insurance is a must for a kit that expensive so i basically always tell people to just go with a fast zoom from a third-party brand like Sigma or Tamron because they honestly hit that sweet spot of optical performance and value without the first-party tax and they are built to such high industry standards now that you really cant go wrong and they handle the resolution of that R series sensor just fine. focusing on the cost-to-performance ratio is key here because ur basically getting 95% of the quality for half the price which leaves more money for the actual trip experiences which is the point right? TL;DR: Grab a versatile zoom from one of the big third-party manufacturers to maximize ur value and keep some cash for travel insurance and backup gear.

I've been really satisfied with how that glass resolves on the 61MP sensor, especially since the MTF charts show such solid corner sharpness even wide open. Sony really optimized the weight here compared to something like the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art which is basically a lead weight in your bag. The G series linear motors are snappy too... no complaints at all for a travel setup.
