Forget zooms - get the Sony FE 35mm f/1.8. It's tiny, sharp as a tack, and the f/1.8 aperture is perfect for low light situations you'll encounter while traveling. 35mm is the perfect focal length that mimics natural vision. I pair it with the 85mm f/1.8 if I need reach, but honestly the 35mm alone handles 80% of my travel shots. Your back will thank you!

Been shooting with the a7 III since it launched and travel photography is basically my life! If youre backpacking, you have to be incredibly careful about what you pack because the wrong glass will literally ruin the experience. Here are some major technical pitfalls to avoid:

• Stay away from older f/4 zooms that lack edge-to-edge sharpness. On the a7 III sensor, youll definitely notice the soft corners in your landscape shots and it is super frustrating!
• Be wary of lenses without weather sealing. If youre out in the elements, dust and moisture are your worst enemies and can lead to massive repair bills later.
• Avoid the trap of carrying too many lenses. The constant sensor exposure during lens swaps in dusty environments is a total nightmare for your sensor.
• Watch out for lens weight distribution. If the lens is too front-heavy, the relatively small grip on the a7 III will kill your wrist after a long day of street shooting. Seriously, prioritize a well-balanced zoom with solid weather sealing. It makes an amazing difference for a trip like this!
