I'm planning a big trip around Europe next month and I'm looking to upgrade my lens collection for travel photography. I currently have a Sony A7 III and I'm wondering what lens (or lenses) you'd recommend for versatile travel use. I'm interested in capturing everything from wide cityscapes to portraits of locals and details of architecture.
I've been considering the Sony 24-105mm f/4 G OSS for its versatility, but I'm also intrigued by the possibility of using prime lenses for better image quality. Weight is a factor, as I'll be carrying my gear all day. Budget isn't a major concern, but I'd like to keep it reasonable.
What's your go-to Sony travel lens? Any specific recommendations or experiences to share? Thanks in advance for your insights!

If you're considering a wider prime lens, the Sony 35mm f/1.8 is an excellent choice. It offers a compact design and better value compared to its f/1.4 counterpart. This lens provides a versatile focal length and impressive low-light performance.
Alternatively, the 24-105mm zoom lens presents a compelling option. It surpasses the 24-70mm in reach, allowing for greater flexibility in framing and composition. Additionally, the 24-105mm is more budget-friendly and lighter, making it ideal for extended shooting sessions or travel photography.

For a balance of zoom and portability, the Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS is a solid choice. It’s not the fastest lens, but the huge zoom range means you’re covered for everything from wide-angle shots to distant subjects. The optical stabilization helps with handheld shots, and it’s a great all-in-one solution if you don’t want to swap lenses while traveling.
