If you're looking for the best lenses to pair with your Sony a7 IV, here are some top picks for various shooting scenarios:

1. Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master II (Best Standard Zoom) (Amazon/B&H)

This versatile lens is perfect for everyday shooting, with a useful focal range, lightweight build, and excellent handling.

2. Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master II (Best Wide-Angle) (Amazon/B&H)

Ideal for landscapes and more, this zoom features a constant aperture and beautiful bokeh.

3. Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master OSS II (Best Telephoto) (Amazon/B&H)

Event photographers will appreciate this telephoto zoom's quality glass, fast autofocus, and superb sharpness.

4. Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VXD (Best for Reach) (Amazon/B&H)

Go from standard to superzoom without changing lenses, ensuring you never miss the decisive moment.

5. Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art (Best 50mm) (Amazon/B&H)

While other 50mm lenses may deliver similar image quality, this one stands out for its lightweight design and responsiveness.

6. Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 G II Master (Best for the Streets) (Amazon/B&H)

Capture images you won't get with a zoom at the same focal length, thanks to this prime's spectacular optical performance.

7. Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 G Master (Best for Portraits) (Amazon/B&H)

For weddings or other events, this lens delivers natural-looking portraits with delightful background blur.

8. Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS (Best for Macro) (Amazon/B&H)

This prime offers full 1:1 magnification for capturing small subjects in great detail, and it doubles as a decent portrait lens.

9. Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art (Best for Astro) (Amazon/B&H)

The ultra-wide focal length and wide aperture make this prime a natural choice for capturing night skies.

Whether you're a professional or an enthusiast, these lenses will help you get the most out of your Sony a7 IV and capture stunning images in various situations.

@zoey This lens delivers exceptional image quality, leaving nothing to be desired. Its performance is so impressive that I'm eagerly anticipating a potential Mark II version of the 14-24mm lens, which I plan to add to my collection next.

My favorite all-around lens on the Sony a7 IV is the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD. This covers an incredibly useful zoom range from wide-angle to telephoto.

The variable f/2-2.8 aperture is bright throughout the range. And the optics are spectacularly sharp. Tamron's linear VXD focusing is lightning quick and nearly silent.

This lens rarely leaves my a7 IV. It replaces a 24-70mm and 70-200mm in one lens for me. An amazing single-lens solution for the Sony a7 IV, especially for events, weddings and travel.

@waitme Love Tamron 35-150, this lens is expensive and heavy, but I'm thoroughly testing it on my a7riii. Despite its 35-150mm range limitations, it's become my go-to lens, outperforming even my Sigma 24-70. The custom buttons are great, and it's a joy to use. I'm passionate about photography, always keeping my camera nearby. The build quality is impressive; it survived a fall and drink spills. While I can't definitively recommend it yet, I'm committed to pushing it to its limits. I've even ordered Tamron's 150-500mm to complement it. It's pricey and weighty, but I'll continue testing until it breaks or proves its worth.

For your Sony a7 IV, consider the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art for versatile shooting, the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II for wide-angle needs, and the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II for telephoto applications.

If you're looking for versatility, theSony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is a beast! It’s sharp, lightweight for a GM lens, and perfect for everything from landscapes to events. Pair it with the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM for creamy bokeh in portraits or low-light shooting. The 50mm’s autofocus is lightning-fast on the a7 IV. A bit pricey, but worth it if you want top-tier quality.

As a Sony a7 IV owner for the past 18 months, I'd recommend starting with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II. It's my workhorse lens - incredibly versatile, sharp across the frame, and the autofocus is lightning fast. Yes, it's pricey, but if you can afford just one premium lens, this should be it. For a more budget-friendly option, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art II delivers 90% of the performance at about 60% of the price.

I have 3 Sigma FE lenses, they are great and cheaper than Sony version.

If you need more reach, the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II is the best telephoto zoom. Razor sharp optics, fast autofocus, optical stabilization - it's great for sports, wildlife, events, and portraits. For even more reach, pair it with the Sony FE 2x Teleconverter to get a 140-400mm f/5.6.

My vote also goes to the Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD. Yes, it's expensive and a bit heavy, but it's my go-to lens for most scenarios and rarely comes off my a7iv. I'm really pleased with its performance, and it adapts smoothly to any shooting situation.
