I recently got my hands on a Sony FX3 and I'm loving it, but I'm struggling to decide on the best lens to pair with it. I'm primarily shooting documentaries and short films, so versatility is key. I'm considering both zoom and prime options. What lenses have you found work well with the FX3? I'm particularly interested in low-light performance and bokeh quality. My budget is flexible, but I'd like to keep it under $2000 if possible. Any recommendations for must-have lenses? What about adapters for other lens systems? Thanks in advance for your insights and experiences!

For under $2000, you can get Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art lens.

Just catching up on this thread and honestly... I had the exact same dilemma when I first picked up my FX3 last year. I spent so much on the body that I was sweating over the lens budget lol. I ended up grabbing the Sony FE 24-105mm f4 G OSS for my doc work and it has basically lived on my camera ever since. I know everyone says you need f2.8 but with the FX3 high base ISO, f4 is actually totally fine even in darker rooms. The range is just so versatile for run-and-gun stuff where you cant keep swapping glass and the internal stabilization is a lifesaver for handheld. That said, if you really want that creamy bokeh for interviews or short films, I absolutely love my Sony FE 35mm f1.8. It is super light and the autofocus is just instant. I used it for a late night street shoot recently and the low light performance was honestly mind blowing. You could probably get both of these and still be way under your $2000 limit which leaves extra cash for some decent ND filters or a cage.

Sony FE 20mm f/1.8, Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8, and Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 are excellent lenses. For optimal results, use base ISOs and ensure proper lighting—invest in good lights. The FX3 camera performs exceptionally well in low-light conditions, making it a versatile choice for various shooting environments.

Dude I was in the exact same boat just a couple months ago when I finally saved up enough for the FX3! I spent like three days straight just staring at my screen tryin to figure out what to buy without going broke. Honestly just search 'best budget fx3 lenses' on youtube. Theres a guy who does a crazy deep dive comparison between the big brands like Sony and Sigma and it was amazing to see them side by side. It totally cleared up my confusion! Just look for the thumbnail with the orange text... it's like the first result. It's such a fantastic video and saved me so much headache!!
