So I basically just spent a huge chunk of my savings on this Sony FX3 camera because my cousin who does photography told me it was the absolute best for video but now that I actually have it in my hands I am totally lost. Like honestly I feel a bit stupid even holding it because there are so many buttons and I dont even know what most of them do yet. I have this big trip coming up in about three weeks to Italy for my sisters wedding and she really wants me to film the ceremony and some of the scenery around the Amalfi coast but I realized the lens I have right now makes everything look way too close up.

I think I need what people call a wide-angle lens so I can actually show the whole church and the ocean and everything without having to stand a mile away? But when I look online there are hundreds of options and all the numbers like 16mm or 24mm or f/1.8 just make my head spin. I dont really understand the difference between a prime lens and a zoom lens either... like does one make it easier for someone who has never done this before? I heard some lenses are better for autofocus and since I am a total beginner I definitely need the camera to do the focusing for me or it is going to be a blurry mess.

My budget is around 1200 dollars for the lens because I already spent so much on the camera body itself so I really cant go over that. I just want something that makes the video look professional and clear without me having to fiddle with it too much while I am trying to enjoy the wedding. Is there a specific lens that is like the standard for this camera that isnt going to make the edges of the video look all distorted or curvy like a fisheye? I really want those wide cinematic shots of the Italian coastline but I am terrified of buying the wrong thing and ruining the footage of her big day. What is the best wide-angle lens for someone who has no idea what they are doing...

Unfortunately, many popular wide lenses have terrible focus breathing or are just way too heavy for travel. Since you are on a budget, dont waste money on the GM series... its usually overpriced and bulky.

> I am terrified of buying the wrong thing I once ruined a wedding shoot using off-brand glass that kept losing focus. It is better to stay safe with native lenses. For your budget, the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is a safe bet for those Italian church interiors. Its much brighter than the Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 G PZ and way more compact. Primes are generally simpler for beginners than power zooms. Both fit your $1200 budget.
