im really stressing about my ps4 pro lately because the internal drive is making these weird clicking sounds and everything takes forever to load. i did some digging and people keep recommending the samsung t7 but then i saw some threads saying the console usb ports bottleneck everything anyway so buying a high-end nvme might be pointless? my logic was just buy the fastest one possible but now i dont know if im just throwing money away. i only have about $100 to spend and i really need this fixed by the weekend so i can actually play. is it worth the extra for something like a t7 or crucial x8 or am i better off with a cheaper t5...

Is that clicking drive still running your OS? Be careful, an external wont fix a failing system drive.

Like someone mentioned, the USB bottleneck is real. In my experience, buying a top-tier NVMe is overkill because the console just cant push those speeds anyway. I've tried many setups and the Crucial X6 1TB Portable SSD is the sweet spot for reliability and price. It hits that 5Gbps cap perfectly fine. No point wasting money on speed you wont see. Just get a solid drive and youll be fine for the weekend.
