So I finally upgraded to the DualSense Edge controllers but my old charging dock is acting up with the back paddles attached. I thought the fit would be the same as the standard ones but it keeps disconnecting if I dont set it down perfectly. I need something more reliable that actually fits the pro build without me having to take the back buttons off every single night.
- budget is under 50 bucks
- must fit with the paddles attached
- available at Best Buy or Amazon
- fast charging preferred
Anyone found a dock that actually seats the Pro controllers securely? My current one is a nightmare to align...

Unfortunately, many third-party docks are not as good as expected because they lack clearance for the back paddles. I've had issues with several units that dont seat properly without excessive force. Check technical specs on sites like RTINGS for actual cradle measurements.

Honestly, I've tried a bunch of these over the years, and most 3rd party docks fail because they rely on the top USB-C port or have a cradle that's too shallow for the back buttons. If you want something that actually works with the Edge paddles, there's really only one logical choice that handles the fitment perfectly every time. In my experience, you should stick with the Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station. I know it seems basic, but it uses a click-in design that contacts the EXT port and charging pins at the bottom rather than plugging into the top port. Because the cradle itself is narrow, the paddles hang off the sides completely unobstructed. I have two Edge controllers and they seat perfectly without any finicky alignment issues. Most generic ones from Amazon have these high plastic walls that hit the paddles, which is why yours is disconnecting. Here is why it wins on technical specs:
- It uses a dedicated AC adapter, so it doesnt drain power from the PS5 USB ports or slow down when two controllers are docked.
- The click-in mechanism provides tactile feedback so you know it's charging immediately.
- It matches the official 5V rail spec perfectly for the internal battery circuitry. Another solid bet is the PowerA Twin Charging Station for DualSense. It's licensed and uses a similar drop-in style that leaves the back area open. If you really want fast charging, stick to the Sony one tho since the power delivery is more consistent across both slots.
