What are the must-have accessories for the new PS5 Pro?

What accessories do I actually need for the PS5 Pro to make it usable? Honestly I am so frustrated that Sony is charging 700 bucks and doesnt even include a disc drive or the vertical stand. It feels like such a rip off after waiting this long. I finally caved and bought one for my setup in London but now I am staring at more costs and my budget is basically blown. Do I really need to buy the official disc drive or are there better third party options? Im also looking for a decent charging station because my controller keeps dying mid-session. Just wondering what everyone else is grabbing to actually finish the build without spending another 200 quid...

I felt the same way when I set mine up... it's a lot of money. I stuck with the Sony PlayStation 5 Disc Drive CFI-ZDD1 for 100 quid because I was worried about updates breaking cheap drives. For the controller, I use the Sony DualSense Charging Station.

  • Official drive avoids compatibility issues
  • Sony dock is safer for the battery It's a pain spending more tho.

Im literally obsessed with mine! I skipped the stand entirely to save cash and spent it on a Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD instead. Its been totally rock solid for me! Seriously, dont stress the official stand, it sits fine horizontally. Getting more storage was way more important for all my digital games tho! Its such a fantastic upgrade!

Late to the party but honestly, the 700 quid price tag is a total gut punch, especially when they leave out basic stuff. I spent a while looking for ways to save some cash on my Pro setup too. Be really careful if you're looking for a third-party disc drive tho. Right now, there actually aren't any. Sony uses a proprietary connection and a software handshake, so anything else you see online is likely a scam or just wont work for playing games. You're basically stuck with the official Sony PlayStation 5 Disc Drive CFI-ZDD1 if you need discs, which is annoying given the stock issues lately. To keep the rest of the build under budget, I'd suggest these:

  • Instead of the official stand, look at the NexiGo PS5 Vertical Stand with Security Screw. It does the exact same thing for way less money and it feels just as sturdy as the one Sony wants 25 quid for.
  • For the controller issue, the OIVO PS5 Controller Charging Station is a solid alternative. It has little LED indicators and stops charging once it's full so you dont wear out the battery.
  • If you're really sick of it dying mid-game, just grab a UGREEN USB C Cable 10ft 60W. It’s long enough to reach the sofa so you can just play wired while it charges. Honestly, I'd skip the stand entirely if you have the shelf space to lay it flat... spend that money on a game instead. Just make sure you leave decent airflow room around the back because the Pro can get kinda toasty during long sessions.
