Best budget controller alternatives for PS4 and PS4 Pro?

Honestly I'm so done with the official DualShock 4 controllers. I've gone through two in the last year and the stick drift is just making my games unplayable and I'm losing my mind. My current one just died right before my long weekend off work and I really dont want to drop another $60 on something that's just gonna break in three months again. I have like maybe $30-35 max to spend right now since I'm in between checks. Are there any decent third-party brands that actually last? I'm mostly playing Elden Ring so I need something that won't lag. What are the best budget alternatives that dont feel like total trash?

Like someone mentioned, wired is best. I used a PDP Wired Gamepad for PS4 for months. Sticks feel decent and it actually survived my Elden Ring run without any lag issues tho.

I have been through a ton of controllers over the years and honestly, the official ones have definitely dipped in quality lately. If youre trying to stay under that 35 dollar mark, you really have two solid options that wont fail you during a boss fight.

  • Nacon Wired Compact Controller PS4 with 3m Cable. It is wired which is actually better for Elden Ring because the input lag is basically non-existent compared to cheap bluetooth chips found in clones. The build quality is surprisingly dense and the triggers have a decent throw.
  • VOYEE Wireless Controller for PS4 with 6-Axis Gyro. Ive tested its deadzones and they are actually tighter than most generic brands in this price range. It uses a 600mAh battery and feels pretty good for the price point. Wired is definitely the move if you want it to last tho. Bluetooth on budget boards tends to get spotty after a few months and you dont want that during a dodge roll...
