Which leather case fits the Sony RX100 VII best?

Does anyone have a lead on a leather half-case or full jacket for the RX100 VII that actually fits perfectly without blocking the tilt screen or the mic jack? I've been shooting with RX100 cameras since the original Mark III came out so I thought I knew what I was getting into but this VII model is being a real pain with the new ports and the slightly shifted dimensions. I recently picked up one of those generic ones from Amazon for my trip to Kyoto in early October but it is honestly junk. The leather feels like plastic and the tripod screw is just enough off-center that I cant open the battery door without taking the whole thing off which totally defeats the purpose for me.

I am looking for something that feels premium and actually protects the body while I am doing street photography but still lets me flip the screen up for those low-angle shots. I looked at the official Sony LCJ-RXK but 85 dollars seems steep if it is just polyurethane and I have heard mixed things about the fit on the newer models. Has anyone tried the Gariz or maybe those TP Original cases from eBay? I really need something that wont get in the way of the pop-up EVF either because I use that constantly. My budget is around a hundred bucks max.

  • Must allow battery and SD card access
  • Genuine leather preferred over synthetic
  • Needs to clear the 180 degree screen flip

Does the VII fit in the older VI cases or did they change the grip depth just enough to make it wiggle? I just want something that doesnt make the camera feel bulky but gives it that classic look while I am walking around Japan...

I've cycled through a ton of these for my street setups. Quick question though, are you planning on actually using that mic jack frequently while the case is on? That usually makes or breaks the fit.

Like someone mentioned, the VII port shift is annoying. Tbh, in my experience Kaza Deluxe Leather Half Case for RX100 VII is the best budget-friendly option for 180-degree tilt clearance.

tl;dr: The VII is a different beast than the VI because of the mic port and screen hinge, so generic universal cases almost always fail the battery door test. Honestly, I've been down this road so many times with the RX100 line. Over the years, I've realized that Sony's minor tweaks to the grip depth and port locations are a nightmare for case manufacturers. In my experience, if you try to use a case designed for the VI, you'll find the VII wiggles just enough to be annoying, or worse, the leather blocks that new mic input entirely. I've found that even a half-millimeter difference in the tripod socket placement makes the battery door impossible to open without a struggle. The screen flip is the biggest hurdle tho. Most cases have a lip that's just a bit too high, so when you try to pull the screen out for a low-angle shot, it catches on the leather. I've tried many different setups for my own street work, and finding that balance between protection and actual usability is tough. I totally agree about those cheap ones... they feel gross and that off-center tripod screw is a dealbreaker when you're on the move in a place like Kyoto. You don't want to be fumbling with a screw while you're trying to swap cards at a busy temple. Before I dig into my notes on the premium leather options I've used, are you planning on using the mic jack often for vlogging, or is it mostly just for stills? Also, do you prefer a grip that adds some height to the camera for your pinky finger, or are you trying to keep the footprint as small as possible?
