So which compact tripod is actually the best fit for the Sony RX100 series if I'm doing a ton of street photography and vlogging on the go? I finally pulled the trigger on a used RX100 VII and I am seriously so hyped to start using it for my trip to Tokyo in literally two weeks! It's such a tiny beast of a camera but I realized I definitely need something to stabilize it for those night shots in Shinjuku and maybe some quick vlog clips when my arm gets tired.

I've been obsessing over reviews and I'm basically torn between three main ones right now. First is the Manfrotto PIXI EVO. It looks super solid and I like that the legs extend a bit but I'm worried it might be a little too chunky to shove in my jacket pocket when I'm running around. Then there's the Joby GorillaPod 1K... everyone talks about them but are they actually durable? I've heard the legs can get kind of loose over time and I really dont want my camera flopping over while Im trying to get a long exposure of the city lights and honestly that would just ruin the whole vibe of the trip.

The third one I saw was a SmallRig tabletop tripod that looks really sleek and is made of aluminum which feels more premium than the plastic Joby stuff. My budget is strictly under $70 because I already spent way too much on extra batteries and a fast SD card lol. Space is the biggest thing though. I'm traveling super light—just a small 6L sling bag—so it has to be small enough that I won't even notice it's there until I need it.

I'm leaning toward the Manfrotto just for the stability but the Joby is so tempting because I could wrap it around a railing or something. But then again the SmallRig looks like it would last forever. Does anyone who actually uses an RX100 have a favorite that doesn't feel like overkill for such a small camera? I just need to decide like... yesterday so I can get it shipped before I leave.

Saw this earlier but just now responding. I've used the RX100 for years and I'm most satisfied with the Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip and Tripod. It's tiny and the integrated controls are great for vlogging. If you need raw stability, the Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod MTPIXI-B works well too.

  • Sony grip: super light, easy video controls
  • Manfrotto: rock solid for long exposures Both are well under your $70 budget.

Forget the Joby for Shinjuku, Ive seen that plastic fail too often. Just grab the SmallRig Tabletop Mini Tripod BUT2429 Aluminum Alloy, its rock solid, holds 10kg, and costs way less tho...
