Been following the leaks for a while now and honestly it is about time. I remember when I finally decided to shelf my old heavy rig for something more compact... my shoulder basically threw a party that day. I was hiking through some trails in the PNW and realized I was missing shots because I didnt want to stop and unpack the beast I was carrying. Switching to a smaller system changed my whole perspective on street and travel work. I spent hours reading technical deep dives on sites like Sony Alpha Blog and watching Philip Bloom videos to really understand the sensor readout speeds and how they affect rolling shutter. My current setup works well enough for what I do, but seeing the tech trickle down from the high-end bodies is satisfying to see. I used to be really picky about 10-bit vs 8-bit color until I actually sat down and graded some footage from these newer sensors. The dynamic range you get now in such a small form factor is kinda wild compared to what we had five years ago. Just hoping the thermal management is a bit better this time around... my older unit used to get pretty toasty during long summer sessions.
The era of carrying a huge DSLR camera for travel is long gone. Nowadays, cameras are primarily used for video recording. For telephoto shots, we use cameras, while for wide-angle shots, we rely on smartphones.
