Hi everyone, I recently got the Sony A6400 mirrorless camera and am looking for advice on the best SD card to use with it. I'll be shooting both photos and 4K video.
What SD card specifications should I look for to ensure fast enough read/write speeds and reliability?
Finally, any specific SD card models you recommend that work well in the A6400 based on your experience? I'd appreciate your suggestions!
Get the SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I V30 SDXC: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=SanDisk+256GB+Extreme+UHS+I+Memory&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50
Building on the earlier suggestion about those high capacity cards, just keep in mind the a6400 hardware is capped at UHS-I speeds. Spending more for a V90 card wont actually help the camera clear its buffer faster or record higher bitrates... you only see the boost when you move files to your pc. I have a couple questions to help narrow it down:
I highly recommended the Lexar Professional 1066x SDXC card. It's blazing fast and has never let me down, even when shooting in high-speed burst mode or recording 4K video. The 128GB capacity gives me plenty of space for extended shoots.
For the Sony A6400, you'll want an SD card with at least UHS-I U3 or V30 rating to ensure it supports 4K video recording without any issues. Look for cards with a minimum write speed of 30 MB/s and a read speed around 90 MB/s or higher for efficient data transfer. SanDisk Extreme Pro or Lexar Professional 1000x have proven to work well with the A6400, offering both high speed and durability for your shooting needs.
