I just got the new Sony FX30 cinema camera and am looking for advice on the best memory cards to use with it. The manual mentions CFexpress Type A and SDXC UHS-II cards. What specific models and sizes are you using and recommend for 4K video recording? I'd like a good balance of performance, reliability and value.
Also, how many memory cards do you typically carry for a day's shoot? Any tips on managing data would be much appreciated!
Sony FX30 has dual card slots, both supports UHS-II SD and CFexpress Type-A cards. If you want best performance, just get CFexpress Type-A cards, such as Lexar CFexpress Type A Gold Series. And UHS- II V90 cards are also a good choice for FX30 with a cheaper price, such as SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II V90.
Lexar CFexpress Type A Gold Series is the the best choice for shooting high quality video with Sony FX30.
I use Nextorage CFexpress Type-A cards, these cards are much cheaper than other brands, and so far no problem yet.
I recommend using CFexpress Type A cards like the Sony TOUGH-G 160GB for high-speed performance and reliability, or the ProGrade Digital 160GB if you're looking for a balance of cost and quality. For SDXC UHS-II cards, the SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB is a solid choice for value and speed. Typically, carrying three to four cards per day is a good practice, ensuring you have enough storage for varied shooting needs and backups. Managing data efficiently involves labeling cards, using a dual-slot reader for faster transfers, and backing up footage at least twice to ensure data safety.
Any CFExpress Type A card is recommended.
