I just got the fx30 and im so lost with all these numbers. I need to film a music video in a dark basement next week and have no idea what lens will actually work.
Which one should I buy that isnt too confusing for a beginner?
> I need to film a music video in a dark basement next week and have no idea what lens will actually work. I remember shooting a short film in a literal crawl space a couple years ago and panicking because my kit lens was just turning everything into grainy mush. Honestly, the FX30 is a beast but that sensor needs light. If you want to keep it under five hundred bucks and get that blurry background look, you really cant go wrong with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E. It basically stays on my camera for indoor stuff because f/1.4 lets in way more light than most zooms. The 30mm focal length is kinda the sweet spot—not too zoomed in but not wide enough to distort peoples faces. I paid about $300 for mine and it saved that crawl space shoot. Just keep the aperture wide open and you wont have to crank the ISO too high. It is simple to use and the autofocus is snappy enough for music videos too.
