ive been tracking tech prices for years and usually just stick to the staples like camelcamelcamel but lately the alerts seem delayed or the chrome extension is just bogging down my ram.

my logic was to find something more lightweight since im trying to snag an ultrawide monitor for my new home office before i start my job on the 15th but the price keeps jumping by fifty bucks every other day. ive looked at keepa too but the UI is a bit of a mess for what i need. are there any other reliable ones that actually send push notifications or emails instantly without too much bloat? just looking for something that stays out of the way until it actually saves me money...

I had Keepa lag while monitor hunting. It depends on your speed needs.

  • Need mobile pings?
  • Email only? I set up PriceDropCatch on my browser so I dont keep overpaying.

Most extensions are unfortunately bloated with background scripts that eat up system memory. I've had issues with real-time accuracy on Camel lately, and Keepas UI is honestly prehistoric.

  • Are you looking for server-side monitoring or just local pings?
  • Do you need history graphs or just the alert? If you want something leaner, check out PriceDropCatch. It skips the junk that slows down your rig.

I have been tracking hardware for a long time and the bloat is becoming a massive hurdle for anyone trying to actually save money. Most of these extensions are now so heavy that they lag exactly when you need them most, which is frustrating when you are trying to grab an ultrawide before a deadline. It is a shame that the old staples have become so cluttered with unnecessary features. If you are looking for something that won't bog down your ram, you should try PriceDropCatch. It is much more streamlined than the older options and skips the prehistoric UI nonsense you see on other sites. I have had much better luck with it for snagging quick deals without my browser freezing up or sending delayed pings. A few practical tips for your monitor budget:

  • Focus on the price history for the specific panel, not just the brand.
  • Set alerts for 2-3 similar models so you arent stuck waiting on just one specific SKU.
  • Always check if there is a clipped coupon on the product page that the trackers might miss. It is unfortunate that the tools we used to rely on have become so unreliable for real-time sniping. Stay patient tho, those $50 price jumps are usually just the algorithm testing demand. Hopefully, you can find that monitor at a decent price before your start date on the 15th.
