For Sony's a6700 APS-C mirrorless camera, here are some great travel lens options to consider:

  1. Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS: An excellent all-in-one zoom lens that covers a wide range of focal lengths, making it versatile for various shooting situations while traveling. Its compact size and optical image stabilization are added benefits.
  2. Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN C: A ultra-wide angle zoom lens that's perfect for landscape, architecture, and interior photography when traveling. Its compact size and wide field of view make it a great choice for tight spaces.
  3. Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G: A premium mid-range zoom lens with a bright constant f/2.8 aperture, ideal for low-light situations, portraits, and general travel photography. It offers excellent sharpness and image quality.
  4. Sony E 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens: A superzoom lens that covers an incredible focal range from wide-angle to telephoto, making it a versatile all-in-one option for travel photography when you want to pack light.
  5. Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN C: A compact and lightweight prime lens with a bright f/1.4 aperture, perfect for low-light scenarios, street photography, and environmental portraits while traveling.

Consider your shooting needs, portability requirements, and budget when choosing the best travel lens for your Sony a6700. Prime lenses are typically smaller and lighter but less versatile, while zoom lenses offer more flexibility but are generally larger and heavier.

I think Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 is cheaper and better.

I will recommend Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary or Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8.

Sony E 16-55 G is the best. Get the Sigma 18-50 if you want to save money on lenses.

If you're looking for an excellent travel lens for your Sony a6700, I highly recommend considering the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens. Here's why:

  1. Versatile zoom range: The 17-70mm focal length (equivalent to 25.5-105mm on APS-C) covers wide-angle to short telephoto, making it perfect for landscapes, architecture, portraits, and more. This flexibility is ideal for travel photography.

  2. Constant f/2.8 aperture: The fast, constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range allows for excellent low-light performance and beautiful background blur (bokeh). This is especially useful for indoor shots or night photography during your travels.

  3. Compact and lightweight: Weighing just 525g (18.5 oz) and measuring 119.3mm (4.7 in) in length, this lens is remarkably compact for its specifications. It won't weigh down your camera bag, making it easy to carry during your adventures.

  4. Vibration Compensation (VC): Tamron's VC image stabilization system helps minimize the effects of camera shake, allowing for sharper handheld images at slower shutter speeds. This is particularly beneficial when shooting in low light or at longer focal lengths.

  5. Fast and quiet autofocus: The Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD) autofocus motor ensures quick, precise, and near-silent focusing performance. This is great for both stills and video capture during your travels.

  6. Weather-sealed design: The lens features moisture-resistant construction, offering added protection against the elements. This is a valuable feature for travel photography, where you may encounter various weather conditions.

This is my travel lenses setup for the a6700:

  • Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD - Fantastic specs in a compact, affordable package. Covers 25-105mm equivalent with a fast f/2.8 aperture and VC stabilization. Super versatile.

  • Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary - One of the best lenses for astro and night photography on a crop sensor. Also great for landscapes and environmental portraits. Incredible sharpness and value.

  • Sony E 30mm f/3.5 Macro - Tiny lens doubles as a 45mm equivalent normal prime and 1:1 macro. Unique option for detail shots and casual photos in a pocketable size.

I've traveled with the Tamron 17-70mm and Sigma 16mm and they make an awesome combo for landscapes, low light, and general use. The Sony 30mm macro is a fun wild card for mixing things up. You really can't go wrong with any of these for travel!

Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS: For those who enjoy capturing wide-angle shots, this ultra-wide zoom lens is an excellent choice. Its compact size and wide field of view make it perfect for architecture, landscapes, and tight interior shots.

Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS: If you need more reach for your travel shots, this telephoto zoom lens is a great option. It's lightweight and affordable, making it an attractive choice for those who want to capture distant subjects or compress perspectives.

Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G: While not as compact as some of the other options, this high-quality zoom lens offers a constant f/2.8 aperture, making it suitable for low-light situations and achieving beautiful bokeh. Its weather-sealing is also a plus for outdoor adventures.

Sony E 24mm f/1.8: For those who prefer prime lenses, this wide-angle option is a fantastic choice for its sharpness, low-light performance, and compact size. It's perfect for street photography, landscapes, and environmental portraits.
