I just got a Sony a6700 for my trip to Italy next month but i have no idea what im doing lol. the camera came with a lens but people say i need a better one for travel. I want something that can do everything like buildings and also stuff far away but i dont want to carry a heavy bag of lenses around. sorry if this is a stupid question i just really dont know where to start or what the numbers even mean on the lens...

  • budget is like $800 max
  • must be light enough for walking all day
  • needs to zoom in pretty far

is there one lens that just does it all?

Unfortunately, most super-zooms are disappointing. I had issues with the Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD because its sharpness was not as good as expected at the long end. For a methodical choice under $800, the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS is better.

  • Lightweight for walking
  • Versatile range
  • High clarity The zoom range isnt extreme, but it handles Italy well.

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
