honestly i found the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Sony E kinda underwhelming on my a6700. its just so bulky for a crop sensor setup and the purple fringing in high contrast shots is a total pain to fix in post... not really what i expected given the hype. @Reply #5 - good point! tho for me it just felt unbalanced on such a small body. quick tips if you do buy it:

  • update the firmware immediately to fix some of the AF hunting issues
  • get a Hoya 67mm NXT Plus UV Filter to protect that massive front element because the glass is a total fingerprint magnet anyway i spent the last five hours trying to fix my kitchen sink instead of actually taking photos. everything in this house is breaking lately and i cant find the right wrench for the life of me. but yeah.

This lens is a great wide angle prime lens for a6700, cheaper than Sony version

While the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is a fantastic lens optically, there are a few potential drawbacks to consider:

  • 16mm is fairly wide and can cause perspective distortion for some subjects
  • Lacks optical image stabilization, so care is needed when shooting handheld
  • Some copies have shown decentering and sample variation
  • Autofocus can occasionally miss in low light

However, if the focal length suits your needs, the optics and price still make it a very compelling option overall for a6700 owners. Just be aware of the limitations.
