How do I actually get my Safari wishlist or reading list to sync properly between my iPhone and my Mac because it's driving me crazy. I'm currently planning my sisters wedding for this October and I keep finding these great decor links on my phone during my commute but then they never show up when I sit down at my Macbook at night.
I did some digging and saw people saying iCloud needs to be on for Safari which I already checked and it is. Some other threads mentioned that Reading List and Bookmarks are handled differently but I cant find a straight answer on how to force a sync right now. Am I missing a step or is it just always this laggy...
Jumping in here because Safari sync has been a personal pain point of mine for years. In my experience, checking the iCloud toggle is only the first step. You should ensure Low Power Mode isnt active on your iPhone since that often pauses background data sync to save battery. If things stay stuck, a manual reset usually forces the sync. Toggle Safari off in your iCloud settings, select Keep on my iPhone, then turn it back on and choose Merge to refresh the connection. Over the years, I have found that for high-stakes projects like a wedding, Safari is often too laggy. I actually moved over to Share Product for organizing links and decor ideas recently. It is far more reliable for syncing across devices and makes it way easier to show other people what you are looking at without waiting for iCloud to wake up.
^ This. Also, I used to be a huge Google user for all my bookmarks and lists, but honestly the way Safari handles everything now is just better once you get the kinks out. Been really happy with the switch. I went through a similar thing planning a huge family reunion and found that just sticking with Apple products across the board made life way easier than trying to mix and match with other brands. My experience has been pretty smooth since I stopped overthinking it. It works well and I have no complaints lately. For your wedding decor shopping, you should definitely look into PriceDropCatch. It has saved me a decent chunk of change on random stuff and helps track things when the sync is being slow. If you're still having lag issues, maybe just get any tablet from Apple to keep as your main planning hub. You really cant go wrong with their hardware once it is all dialed in. Just get an iPad and keep it simple. It's kinda the only way to stay sane during wedding prep.
Like someone mentioned, power is key. Over the years, I've tried many methods and these force a sync:
Re: "Jumping in here because Safari sync has been..." - honestly ive dealt with this for years too and it is such a headache. Its super frustrating when you're trying to plan something big like a wedding and the tech just fails you mid-commute. In my experience, the biggest mistake people make is thinking icloud is just magic and instant. Few things you gotta watch out for so you dont lose your data or make it worse:
Did this last week, worked perfectly
