Im getting married in like three months and finally getting around to the registry stuff which is way more stressful than I thought it would be lol. Im mainly a Mac user and Ive been trying to set something up through Safari because thats just what I use for everything but Im hitting a wall. I saw some people saying to just use the Amazon assistant thing but when I tried to find it for Safari it feels like it hasnt been updated in years and I cant even find it in the App Store? Then I tried MyRegistry because everyone says it lets you add stuff from any site which is what I need since I want some specific local handmade pottery from a shop in Portland that doesnt have a big setup.

The problem is they say to drag this button to my bookmarks bar but it just wont stay there or it doesnt do anything when I click it on the shop page. I dont know if its because Im on the newest OS or if Safari just has some weird security setting blocking it. I really dont want to have to download Chrome just for this one task because I hate how much battery it drains on my laptop. Is there like a specific way to enable these extensions in Safari now or a better site that actually works with the browser without a bunch of glitches? I just want to be able to click a button and have the item added to my list without having to copy paste links every single time...

I totally get the frustration with Safari. I went through the exact same headache when I was planning my sisters engagement party last year. I was determined not to use Chrome because it kills my MacBook battery and honestly, I just prefer how clean Safari looks. I had that same issue where the MyRegistry button would just... vanish or do nothing when I clicked it. Turns out Safari treats those bookmarklets like sketchy scripts now because of the privacy updates in the newer OS. I found a workaround that actually made me pretty happy with the whole process. Here is what worked for me:

  • First, you gotta make sure the Bookmarks Bar is actually toggled on by hitting Command+Shift+B. If its hidden, the drag-and-drop just wont land anywhere properly.
  • Go into your Safari settings under the Websites tab and look for Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar. You have to set your registry site to Allow or the little window that lets you pick the item photo never shows up.
  • If those dont work, I ended up having a way better experience with RegistryFinder. It works well with the newer MacOS versions and I used it to add a bunch of stuff from random local boutiques without any lag or glitches. I was so satisfied once I got it running because I could just browse and click without thinking. It definitely beats the copy-paste nightmare. Good luck with the Portland pottery, that sounds like a killer addition to your registry!

Omg I went through this exact mess last year! Spent hours trying to get those clunky buttons to work. It was so frustrating! Definitely avoid the old Amazon tool because its super buggy on newer macOS.

  • Watch out for Content Blockers in Safari settings, they usually break registry scripts!
  • Stay away from old extensions asking for weird permissions, total security risk. I love Safari speed, but those legacy bookmarklets are a nightmare now!

> I just want to be able to click a button and have the item added to my list without having to copy paste links every single time... Ugh, I am in the exact same boat as you and it is honestly so draining. Saw this earlier and just had to chime in because I've been struggling with Safari for like a month now trying to set up my own list. Like someone mentioned, those bookmarklets just seem broken on the newer OS. I would suggest being really careful if you start looking for third-party fixes tho, because a lot of them look super sketchy and I'm worried about security. Even peeked at the Amazon Wishlist Chrome Extension but I'm trying so hard to stay off Chrome to save my battery life. Honestly, I'm just as stuck... been dealing with this for weeks and still haven't found a safe way to make it work without the manual copy-paste stuff. It's such a headache and I'm worried I'm gonna mess up my browser settings if I keep poking around.
