How can I share my Amazon shopping cart with my roommates?

So I've been the designated Amazon person for my friend groups for years now but I just hit a wall with my current living situation. Me and two others just moved into a three-bedroom in the Wicker Park area and we're trying to streamline the household stuff like bulk paper towels, soap, and random kitchen gear. Usually I just handle it but money's a bit tighter this year so we need a better system than me just guessing what we need and Venmoing everyone later.

I'm looking for a way to actually share a cart in real-time. I know about Amazon Household but that's really meant for like, two adults and kids, and I really don't want to link our actual accounts for digital content or share my prime benefits that deeply. I've been looking at some browser extensions but I'm worried about security. Here is what I'm looking for:

  • Needs to allow them to add items directly to a shared space
  • I need to be the one to hit the final buy button for security reasons
  • Ideally no password sharing because my card info is on there
  • Must work on Chrome or Safari

I tried the Wish List thing but it's so clunky. You have to move stuff from the list to the cart and it doesnt always update if someone else already bought it. Is there some kind of collaborative cart plugin that actually works in 2024? Just trying to avoid the whole oops we bought two 24-packs of toilet paper situation...

Regarding what #1 said about "> Is there some kind of collaborative cart..."

  • I'm gonna be the skeptic here. In my experience testing these for dev work, many are huge security risks because they scrape your session cookies. I've tried many tools and basically found:
  • Plugins often leak user metadata
  • They bypass browser security sandboxes Stick to native lists for safety. Just saw a post on Smartphone Board about this — apparently, it's a common snag for power users.
