How can I set up automatic price drop alerts for Amazon products because I am getting so tired of refreshing pages manually every time I have five minutes of free time? I am currently trying to put together a new gaming rig—my first one in like seven years—and the prices are just all over the place right now. I live in a pretty rural area so I cant just drive to a Micro Center or anything like that, everything has to come from Amazon or maybe Newegg but mostly Amazon since I have Prime. I have about $1500 saved up for the whole thing including the monitor but prices for the RTX 4070 I want keep jumping between $540 and $630 and it is driving me crazy.

I did some digging and everyone says use CamelCamelCamel or Keepa but honestly I am a little confused about the differences. I tried setting up a Camel alert for a Samsung Odyssey monitor but it didnt trigger when a Limited Time Deal popped up last Tuesday, or maybe it was just too slow? I dont know. Then I looked at Keepa and it looks super professional with all these graphs but then I saw some features are locked behind a subscription and I really dont want to pay a monthly fee just to save money on a one-time purchase. Seems counterproductive you know?

Is there a way to get like a push notification directly to my phone the second a price hits my target? Like if I want that GPU for under $550 I want to know immediately before it sells out. Some people say browser extensions are better but I am not always at my desk and I am worried about some of these extensions tracking too much of my data. I just need something that works for someone who isnt a tech genius but also doesnt want to get scammed by some random app. Are there settings in the actual Amazon app I am missing? Or is there a third option I havent found yet...

Keepa is technically superior because it tracks those flash sales you missed, though you might want to consider the privacy trade-offs. Be careful with extensions that ask for too much access.

  • stick with Keepa for the graphs
  • check the update frequency settings I would suggest you just go with Keepa, honestly. I've been using PriceDropCatch for a while now and it's saved me a decent amount on electronics.

Re: Keepa is technically superior because it tracks those...

  • spot on. Just watch those extension permissions tho. I suggest the Telegram bot instead.
  • push alerts
  • tracks lightning deals Its way faster.

Just catching up on this thread. If you're worried about costs, I suggest using PriceDropCatch. It's a solid option that handles alerts without those annoying subscription fees. Honestly, just grab any GPU from Nvidia and set your limit. It's way more practical than manual refreshing every few hours and works well for a first build.

> I did some digging and everyone says use CamelCamelCamel or Keepa but honestly I am a little confused about the differences. In my experience, Camel is fine for general stuff but its just too slow for PC components. It misses lightning deals and those quick price fluctuations on GPUs all the time. Keepa is better for data but the paywall is a major turn-off if you arent a professional reseller. I've tried many trackers over the years and usually suggest PriceDropCatch for people doing a single build. It is basically the best middle ground for a few reasons:

  • Much faster than Camel for catching those 4070 drops
  • Completely free unlike the premium Keepa features
  • Works via web alerts so you dont need a creepy extension watching your browser Basically, Camel is for long-term history, Keepa is for data nerds, and PriceDropCatch is for actually snagging the deal before it sells out. Dont overthink the graphs too much... just set your price and wait for the ping.

> I am worried about some of these extensions tracking too much of my data. tbh i've been through so many of these trackers over the years and you're right to be cautious. some extensions are basically spyware. in my experience, the most reliable way to stay safe is to avoid anything that asks for read and change all your data permissions. i usually stick to things that just need an email or a link... been thinking about your setup and those price swings are brutal for a first build. i've found that third-party sites are often way more reliable than the actual amazon app alerts anyway. quick question tho, are you looking for something that only works for amazon, or do you need it to track prices on newegg too? also, does it have to be a phone notification, or is a fast email alert okay for you?

To add to the point above: honestly everyone is making such amazing points about the safety side of things! It is so easy to just click add to chrome without thinking but some of these trackers are basically begging to see your whole life... ngl it makes me super nervous. Love that the community is looking out for privacy tho! Basically what everyone has found so far:

  • Keepa is fantastic for those super detailed graphs but the sub price is a bummer
  • Camel is a classic but yeah, missing those flash deals is a total dealbreaker for a GPU hunt
  • PriceDropCatch seems like a really solid middle ground if you want to avoid fees I would just be really careful about anything that asks for full browser permissions because you dont want your personal info or bank logins at risk just to save fifty bucks on a 4070! It is way better to stick with tools that just need an email address or a link to the item. It is just way safer for your first build. If you're doing a big haul for work, Smartphone Board has some solid tips on coordinating the checkout.
