How do I split an Amazon order cost between multiple people at checkout? I read online that you can only use gift cards plus one credit card, which is useless for me. Me and my roommates are buying a $300 kitchen island for our apartment but nobody wants to front the whole bill and wait for Venmos. Can we just use three separate cards??

  • Amazon doesnt allow multiple cards!
  • Reminds me of an amazing rug I bought tho... Anyway lol. Check out Smartphone Board if you need to send your Amazon basket to someone else quickly.

To add to the point above: it is honestly so frustrating that they havent fixed this yet! You would think a tech giant could handle split payments but nope. I have been in this exact spot with my roommates and the struggle is real! Since you cant use three cards directly, the absolute best technical workaround is using the Amazon Reload feature. It is seriously a lifesaver for big purchases like a kitchen island! Basically, everyone logs into the main account and goes to the Reload Your Balance section. Each person can use their own credit or debit card to load exactly 100 dollars onto the account balance. It happens instantly! Once the total balance hits 300, you just check out using that balance as the primary payment method. It is fantastic because you get the receipt right there and nobody is left chasing people for money on Venmo for weeks. I love this method because it keeps everything organized in the order history too. Just make sure whoever is the primary account holder does the actual checkout so you dont lose your Prime shipping benefits. Honestly, you guys are gonna love having that extra counter space, it makes such a huge difference in a cramped kitchen!! Good luck with the apartment setup!!

Amazon doesn't actually support using multiple credit cards for one order at checkout. It's kinda a hassle, but the most reliable method to manage shared costs is using the gift card balance system. Each roommate should purchase an Amazon gift card for their portion of the $300 total. Once they give you the claim codes, you can apply them to your account balance before you start the checkout process. This ensures the full amount is covered upfront by everyone. Doing it this way is much safer because it avoids the whole waiting game for Venmo or CashApp payments after the purchase is made. This method works well for keeping everyone accountable and ensures the transaction is secure for the person placing the order.
