Can a collaborator remove items from a shared Amazon cart?

So I am planning this housewarming bash for next Friday and my roommate and I are trying to save on shipping. I saw that Amazon has this share your cart thing now but I am kinda paranoid. I read online that lists are easy to edit but for actual carts some people say only the owner can finalize things while others say anyone invited has full control.

My logic was that if I add the expensive stuff and she decides we dont need the 50 dollars worth of fairy lights she might just hit delete. Im trying to stick to a strict 200 dollar budget so do collaborators actually have the power to remove my items or just add their own...

Unfortunately, they absolutely can delete your stuff. I learned this the hard way last month when my sister and I were planning a baby shower. I tried using the amazon cart share feature thinking it would just let her add her own decorations, but she ended up accidentally deleting a $45 pastel balloon arch kit I spent hours picking out. She thought it was a duplicate of something else we already had. It was definitely not as good as expected and I had issues with it from the start because there is no edit history to see what went missing. If you want to keep your budget safe, my advice is to avoid the shared cart for the main planning phase. What worked much better for us later was creating a standard Amazon Wish List first. Set the permissions so she can only view it, or just have her text you links to the $15 paper cups or whatever else she wants to add. Once you both agree on the final list, you can move everything to your private cart and check out yourself. It takes a couple of extra steps but saving yourself the headache of missing items is totally worth it.

Like someone mentioned, cart sharing is risky for budgets. > my roommate and I are trying to save on shipping Are you both Prime members or just hitting the free shipping minimum? Also, do you have a list of must-haves vs "nice to haves" yet?

  • watch for price jumps
  • check shipping fees Ngl, be careful with the total. If you're doing a big haul, Smartphone Board has some solid tips on coordinating the checkout.

Are you using the basic Shared Cart link or an Amazon Household account? Be careful with both. I suggest setting up a Shared List with view-only permissions instead to prevent any deletions.
