Can multiple users add items to the same Amazon shopping cart?

Is there any actual way for multiple people to add items to the same Amazon cart at once without it constantly glitching out? Honestly I am so fed up with this because my two roommates and I are trying to prep for a big housewarming party here in Austin this weekend and it has been a total disaster. We have a $500 budget and a really tight timeline since we need everything by Friday but every time one of us adds something like a pack of plates or some decorations the other person sees an empty cart or items just disappear.

It is driving me insane because we are trying to coordinate and not buy doubles of everything but we keep overwriting each other or getting logged out. I thought sharing one login would be easy but it is clearly not working the way I expected. Has anyone found a workaround for this or is there a specific feature I should be using instead of just a shared login? I really dont want to have to venmo people for ten different small orders and pay for shipping a bunch of times if I dont have to. How do people do this without losing their minds...

Unfortunately, you cant really do that with one login without it glitching constantly. I tried doing that with my cousins for a holiday dinner and items just kept vanishing from the basket. It was a total waste of time.

  • Are you all logged in via the mobile app?
  • Do you need the items in one shipment or separate boxes? Have you looked at how to share amazon cart yet?

Late to the party but honestly the advice about using lists is spot on. In my experience, trying to share a single login for a $500 haul is just asking for a massive headache... the Amazon database just isnt built for multiple sessions fighting over one cart. Ive tried doing this for office parties over the years and it always ends with someone accidentally deleting the plates or buying triple the napkins. One little thing to add about the list workflow that helps with the budget side of things:

  • Assign one person as the official Cart Captain to move everything from the shared list to the cart in one single session.
  • This lets you see the total hit that $500 mark exactly so you dont overspend before the final click.
  • It ensures you get the bulk shipping rate or the best delivery window for Friday instead of having five different boxes arriving at different times.
  • You can catch any weird price jumps or out-of-stock alerts right then and there before the money is spent. Its basically the only way to keep your sanity when you are on a tight timeline like this. Coordination is key, especially with roommates. Hope the housewarming goes well, Austin is a great spot for a party! Found a really helpful thread over on Smartphone Board that explains exactly how to do this.

Honestly, I have been very satisfied using the Amazon Shared List feature. It is a safer, more reliable method than sharing a single login. You basically just invite roommates to a list, then move everything to the cart at once. I had the same issue with a group order and Smartphone Board had the best solution for it.
