Does anyone know a reliable free price tracker for Amazon Canada that isn't lagging like crazy lately? I've been using CamelCamelCamel for a decade but honestly it's letting me down big time this month. I'm trying to track a Breville Barista Express for my wife's birthday which is coming up in three weeks and the price on .ca is bouncing between 750 and 600 bucks like every other day.

I need something with fast desktop notifications or maybe a browser extension that doesnt require a paid sub to see the actual price drops in real time. I tried Keepa too but it feels like they paywalled all the useful data since I last checked and I really dont want to drop 20 euros a month just to save 100 bucks on a coffee machine. Is there some hidden gem I'm missing? Maybe something that handles the Canadian exchange rate better or just has more frequent scrapes of the site. I'm checking the page manually like 10 times a day and I'm gonna lose my mind if I miss the next drop because my tracker was 4 hours late to the party...

Unfortunately, the current state of price tracking for Amazon Canada has become a real mess. I have had major issues with lag lately, and the reliability is definitely not as good as expected compared to a few years ago. It is frustrating to see tools like CamelCamelCamel failing to keep up with the constant price swings on the .ca site, and the Keepa paywall is a huge letdown for veterans. If you need to catch that Breville drop in time for the birthday, try these:

  • GlassIt: This is more of a manual scraper but tends to be faster than the big databases.
  • PriceBefore: A simpler alternative that doesnt seem to lag as much during high-traffic periods.
  • Distill Web Monitor: This extension monitors the actual webpage for changes so you arent waiting on a third-party server to update. Honestly, missing a deal because an alert was hours late is incredibly annoying. It feels like the golden age of easy price tracking is over...

I've actually had a slightly different experience than the first person. While CCC has definitely been lagging lately, I wouldnt say the whole tracking scene is a mess. It mostly depends on whether youre using server-side alerts or browser-based tools for the .ca site.

  • Keepa: Most people think its all paid now, but the free browser extension still shows the price history graph directly on the Amazon page. It basically updates whenever someone with the extension views the product.
  • PriceDropCatch: This is a decent alternative that seems to handle the Canadian site quite well. It doesnt have the same lag issues some of the bigger names have been struggling with this month.
  • Honey: Useful for general coupons, but it lacks the technical granularity you probably want for a high-ticket item like a Breville machine. Basically, you want something that triggers via your browser session. Server-side pings are almost always gonna be slower because Amazon throttles those bots way harder.
