Are there any free Amazon cart sharing extensions available for Chrome?

Ive been using Amazon for basically everything since forever but I hit a wall today. Usually I just grab what I need but Im actually planning a team-building weekend for my office in late October and I need to let everyone pick out their own snacks and supplies without me having to manually copy-paste every single link into a spreadsheet like some caveman. I thought about just giving them my login info but my credit card is obviously saved there and I dont really want 15 people having access to my Prime account lol.

I know there used to be a few extensions that did this but honestly I havent looked at that side of the Chrome web store in years and half the stuff looks like abandonware or has weird privacy permissions. I need something that actually works in 2024.

Here is what Im looking for specifically:

  • Needs to be 100% free because I already blew the budget on the cabin rental
  • It has to be a Chrome extension since thats what we all use at work
  • I want them to be able to add stuff to a shared basket but I remain the owner who hits the final buy button
  • No complicated setup where everyone has to create a new third-party account if possible

Does anyone know if Share-A-Cart is still the go-to or if there is something better now that wont harvest all my data? Im trying to get this finalized by Friday so I can get the shipping sorted...

I feel your pain because I went through this exact nightmare for my parents anniversary party last month. Honestly, I was so disappointed with what is out there now. I tried two or three different extensions that had decent reviews, but they were basically broken. One kept logging me out, and another one wanted access to my entire browser history for some reason... super sketchy stuff. Here is what I learned the hard way:

  • Most of the old go-to apps havent been updated in forever
  • Privacy settings on the new ones are honestly terrifying
  • Most extensions that claim to be free eventually hit you with a paywall I ended up using a tool to share Amazon carts and it was the only thing that actually worked for my group. The one I got didnt force my non-techy relatives to make accounts, which was a huge relief. Just make sure you check the permissions before you install anything because some of these developers are definitely data harvesting nowadays. My current setup is way more reliable than those abandoned apps.

ngl managing 15 people's snacks sounds like a total headache lol. I've messed around with a few of these recently for my own office stuff and it's a bit of a minefield. Before I give you my list, i've gotta know:

  • are your teammates all on the same corporate network or VPN?
  • do they need to see the live total price while they're adding stuff? Some tools handle the cookie sessions differently depending on the network security, so that matters a lot.

TL;DR: Share-A-Cart is amazing! It stays free and requires zero team accounts. Just grab their codes and you dont need anything else. Cart To Link creates one link for the whole basket too!
