just grabbed an A80L for my bedroom and need it up before the playoffs start this weekend. im torn between the Sanus Elite and that cheaper Echogear full motion one on Amazon.
budget is like 130 max and the Sony has that weird low VESA pattern... which one actually fits better without blocking the ports?
TL;DR: Grab the Sanus Elite!! Its way safer for that bottom-heavy Sony design and wont block your HDMI ports. I actually had a total nightmare situation with a cheap mount on my old OLED where the whole thing felt like it was gonna tilt forward... scary stuff! I finally switched to the Sanus Elite BXL1 Advanced Tilt 4D for my bedroom A80L and it is absolutely fantastic. Since the VESA holes are so low on these Sony models, you need that extra vertical adjustment the Sanus offers so the brackets dont stick out the bottom. I think it was around 120 bucks? Worth every penny for the peace of mind! The Echogear EGLF2 Large Full Motion Mount is a decent runner up but the Sanus wall plate design is just amazing for cable management. Trust me, you dont want to be fiddling with cables behind a thin OLED screen once its up!
Commenting to find later
Ive dealt with those bottom-heavy Sony panels for years. Honestly, save some money and grab the Kanto PDX650 Full Motion TV Wall Mount. It handles that awkward VESA layout perfectly without the brackets sticking out below the frame. Just make sure to use the spacers if your cables are thick, tho the port clearance is usually fine on the A80L.
^ This. Also, love that you grabbed the A80L! It is a fantastic panel and you are gonna have an amazing time with it once it is up. Since you are focused on reliability, I would honestly tell you to just look at any mount from Peerless-AV or maybe Chief. They are basically the gold standard for professional installs and the build quality is just incredible. You really cant go wrong with either brand for peace of mind!! I want to make sure you get the right fit tho... what kind of wall are you working with exactly? Are you hitting standard wooden studs or is it something else like metal or concrete? Also, how high are you planning to mount it? Since the VESA holes are so low on that Sony, the height of the actual wall plate makes a huge difference for your viewing angle... dont want you straining your neck during the playoffs!
