Which wall mount is most compatible with 65-inch Sony OLED TVs?

I recently picked up a 65-inch Sony A80L OLED, and I’m a bit nervous about getting it on the wall. I noticed the VESA mounting holes are positioned quite low on the back compared to my old TV, which makes me worried about the bracket visibility and the overall height. I’m looking for a mount that offers a slim profile but still allows enough clearance to reach the side-facing HDMI ports easily. Since these panels are so thin, I really want something sturdy and reliable. Has anyone found a specific mount that fits the unique Sony frame perfectly without blocking the inputs? I’d love some recommendations for a clean, flush-looking setup!

+1 to what was said earlier, that Sony brand mount is highkey expensive. Basically, grab the ECHOGEAR Low Profile Fixed TV Wall Mount EGLF1-BK if you want a flush look on a budget. Just realy watch your measurements because those low holes mean the mount sits way lower than you'd expect—don't mess up your height calcs!! gl

yo, I remember being sooo stressed about my A80L mount last year cuz of that weird VESA layout... honestly it's a pain. Here's what I recommend: * Sony SU-WL850 Ultra Slim Wall-Mount Bracket - pricey ($249) but fits flush.
* Sanus VLT7-B2 Advanced Tilt 4D - reallyyy better for port access ($170). Just measure twice cuz those VESA 300x300 holes make the TV sit way higher than expected. Total trap for ur install tho!!

Just saw this thread and honestly, the DIY route for these Sony OLEDs is kind of a nightmare if you dont plan ahead. Quick question though before I give a solid recommendation—are you planning on running the wires inside the wall yourself, or are you looking for a mount that has built-in tracks for cables? I mean, the A80L is basically all glass at the top, so you really have to be careful with how much force you apply when pulling it out to reach those side HDMIs. If youre doing this yourself, you should look into something that allows for lateral shift so you dont have to worry if your studs arent perfectly centered. I personally looked into the Vogel's THIN 545 ExtraThin Full-Motion for a similar setup because it stays thin but gives you that extra reach, although it is a bit of a project to level correctly.

  • use a recessed media box like the Legrand AV On-Q In-Wall Media Box to hide the bulky power bricks
  • make sure the mount plate is wide enough to bridge 16 inch studs for safety
  • always lift from the bottom housing, NEVER the thin top part of the glass Its totally doable as a DIY project but man, that low VESA mount really messes with your head when youre trying to level it out! Just make sure you have a buddy to help because those panels are SO thin it feels like they might snap if you grab them wrong.

I have the same exact issue right now. Like someone mentioned, the VESA mounting holes being so low on the back of the Sony A80L 65 inch OLED makes it a total headache to plan. Been staring at my living room wall for three weeks trying to figure this out and I still havent found a mount that actually feels like it fits right. Honestly I am just as stuck as you are. Every time I think I found a bracket that works, the vertical centering math just makes the TV sit way too high or the arms show. Kinda ridiculous that its this hard to find a straightforward answer for such a popular screen... still havent pulled the trigger on anything yet.

> I noticed the VESA mounting holes are positioned quite low on the back... Quick question—are you going into drywall or something tougher like brick? Back when I started doing these installs, I found that the low mounting point can really mess with ur height calcs. I'd basically stick with anything from Chief; they're highkey the gold standard for pro setups. Lesson learned: always double-check the vertical centering before you drill cuz those Sony OLEDs are tricky!

For your situation, I'd actually suggest looking at mounts with high structural integrity. Here's what I'd go with: * Sanus VLF728-B2 Full-Motion Mount - Handles the low-point weight distribution perfectly.
* Chief XSM1U Micro-Adjustable Fixed Wall Mount - Pro-grade and super sturdy. Basically, these prevent the panel from flexing when ur reaching for side HDMIs while staying fairly flush. Way safer for a thin OLED imo! gl

I have been living with my Sony OLED for a while now and honestly there is one thing I really wish I had thought about before I started drilling holes. Since you are looking for that super clean and flush look, I have to ask, what kind of furniture are you putting under the TV? The reason I ask is because those low VESA holes can make the bottom of the TV sit much closer to your media console than you might expect. If you are not careful, you might end up with no room for a soundbar, or worse, the furniture might actually block the remote sensor at the bottom of the screen. I almost made that mistake and it would have been a disaster. Also, please be really careful about how you handle the panel during the install. I mean, the top half is basically just a thin sheet of glass and I always worry about putting too much pressure on it when reaching behind to plug in HDMIs. Just a few things to watch out for:

  • make sure there is enough airflow so the back of the panel does not get too hot
  • avoid grabbing the very top edge of the screen when you are moving it
  • check that your HDMI cables are not too stiff or they might push the TV away from the wall Are you planning on mounting it at exactly eye level? I found that getting the height right with these specific Sony models is way harder than it looks.

Just catching up on this thread and unfortunately its the same old story with Sony and their VESA placement. That low center of gravity on the A80L is honestly such a design flaw for wall mounting... it puts so much weird torque on the upper arms of a bracket. Before I can really tell you which way to go tho, are you using thick high-speed cables or those thinner fiber optic ones? If youre cramming multiple beefy HDMI cables back there, most slim mounts are gonna be a total disaster for your ports because of the lack of depth. Honestly just look at anything from Peerless-AV. They usually build their gear for commercial installs so the tolerance for that bottom-heavy Sony weight distribution is much better than the cheap stuff you find at big box stores. Just find one of their universal tilting brackets and call it a day.

Honestly I was terrified of cracking the glass on my A80L during the install. I went with the Vogels COMFORT Fixed TV Wall Mount TVM 3403 because it feels incredibly solid and has these soft patches that protect the back of the TV. One thing I highly recommend for long-term safety is grabbing some 90-degree HDMI adapters. Since the ports are tight and the panel is so thin, those adapters stop the cables from putting constant pressure on the internal boards when the TV is pushed back. It keeps everything stress-free and makes reaching the side ports way less scary later on.
