Starting a new heavy lifting block next week and need new cans. I saw the XM5s look amazing for noise cancelling but some guys on Reddit say the ear cups get swampy and they slide right off during benching. My budget is around $300... which Sony model is actually best for sweat and staying put?

> some guys on Reddit say the ear cups get swampy and they slide right off during benching. Spot on. The XM5 headband is way too smooth for benching or rows. I've found the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones stay put much better due to a higher clamping force. Just know that Sony over-ears aren't technically sweat-rated. If you need something truly durable, the Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds are technically superior for heavy gym sessions.

In my experience, heavy cans are basically a liability when you're under the bar. If you want something that stays put, check out the Sony Float Run Open-Ear Wireless Headphones.

  • No sweat buildup at all
  • Impossible to shake off
  • Very reliable for heavy lifting They're way under your $300 budget and feel much safer than bulky earcups sliding around while you're benching.
