Which Sony headphones am I actually supposed to buy for the gym without them breaking in two months? Im seriously torn between the WH-1000XM5 over-ears and the LinkBuds S and honestly getting a headache looking at all these reviews.

I start my new powerlifting block on Monday here in Miami and it is so humid in my garage gym that I need something that wont die from sweat. I like the noise canceling on the XM5s but I keep hearing they arent sweat resistant at all and might slide off my head while I'm benching... but then the LinkBuds seem like they might fall out during box jumps. My budgets like $300 max. Which one actually survives a real workout?

Tbh im always paranoid about gear dying so i usually check technical sweat ratings on sites like Rtings first. If you want to save some cash, the Sony WF-C700N Truly Wireless Earbuds are a solid alternative. They're way under your budget and have the IPX4 rating you need for Miami humidity. Way less stressful than worrying about breaking pricey over-ears during a heavy set.

> honestly getting a headache looking at all these reviews. I totally get that. Spec sheets can be a total maze sometimes. Quick question tho, how long are your typical sessions in that Miami humidity? If you're grinding for two hours plus, ear fatigue and moisture buildup are real things you gotta plan for... In my experience, over-ears are a total no-go for benching. They'll just slide right off. Since you're worried about things falling out or dying from sweat, look at the Sony Float Run Off-Ear Wireless Headphones. They're usually around $130. They dont actually go inside your ear, so they wont get all gross and slippery from sweat. Plus the over-ear hook means they're not going anywhere during box jumps. For something bulletproof in garage heat, the Sony NW-WS623 Waterproof Walkman with Bluetooth is a beast. It's a neckband style so it stays secure, and it's literally salt-waterproof. Many setups I've used over the years fail because of moisture, but these specialized designs usually beat standard buds for raw durability.

Dont use the Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones for humidity. I am satisfied with Sony LinkBuds S Truly Wireless Earbuds because the IPX4 rating ensures reliable performance during heavy lifting sessions.

Sony is fantastic for tech, but honestly their designs are way more focused on office life than heavy lifting in that brutal Miami heat! I think the main issue with using any high-end electronics in a garage gym is how the salt and moisture in the air just destroys everything over time.

  • The humidity down there is basically like living inside a soup bowl
  • Garage gyms are basically ovens during the summer months
  • Everything gets that weird layer of grit on it after a while Actually, that reminds me of this one time I tried to build a DIY squat rack out of pressure-treated lumber during the supply shortage. I spent like three days staining it in my driveway and then a massive tropical storm rolled in out of nowhere and ruined the whole finish. I ended up with green stain all over my driveway and my neighbor was totally furious because it leaked onto his sidewalk. We didnt talk for like three months after that until I gave him a bottle of bourbon for his birthday. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
