Looking for recommendations on reliable websites that track Sony lens prices. I want to be notified when specific lenses go on sale. Currently considering Camelcamelcamel for Amazon, but wonder if there are better options dedicated to camera gear. Ideally, I need historical pricing data and price drop alerts for multiple retailers. Any photographers with suggestions for tracking Sony GM and G lenses specifically? Thanks!

Honestly, if you are serious about catching the absolute floor price on GM glass, you shouldnt rely solely on third party aggregators. They often have a data lag that can be the difference between getting a deal and seeing an out of stock button. I basically prefer a more DIY approach by setting up custom browser based monitors or RSS alerts for the specific landing pages of authorized retailers. This way you get notified the second their internal SKU database updates, rather than waiting for a crawler to hit the site hours later. Are you looking specifically for brand new factory sealed units, or are you okay with tracking warehouse deals and open box inventory? Also, is your priority the absolute lowest price globally, or are you sticking to authorized dealers to maintain that Sony manufacturer warranty? Tbh the price action on grey market imports follows a completely different cycle than the official MSRP drops.

  • Set up custom page monitors for real time updates
  • Watch for seasonal rebate cycles instead of just random drops
  • Check for EDU or professional program pricing if you qualify

Just found this thread today. @Reply #5 - good point! Honestly, those price trackers are not as good as expected anymore. I had issues with alerts being delayed by hours, which is useless for limited stock sales on GM glass. Most of those aggregators feel like they are behind now, which is just frustrating when you are trying to be careful with your budget. I basically do the DIY thing now but it is honestly exhausting to keep up with. Are you trying to find the absolute lowest price regardless of the source, or are you strictly sticking to authorized dealers for the warranty? That makes a massive difference in how you should set up your alerts.
