honestly im so over this cheap generic cage I bought off Amazon for my FX3. the top handle literally wiggled during a client shoot yesterday and I almost lost my external monitor. its so frustrating because I spent 80 bucks on it and its basically trash now. I have a big wedding shoot this Saturday in Chicago and I am panicking because I need a solid setup for both my FX3 and my backup a7S III. my budget is around $200 per cage max. is SmallRig actually better or should I just bite the bullet on Kondor Blue or something high end? I need something that wont fall apart when Im running around all day... what are you guys using that actually stays tight?
Man I totally felt that pain in my soul! I once had a generic mount snap during a car chase scene and almost cried... literally heart-stopping stuff. You definitely need to upgrade before that wedding! I am obsessed with my current setup because its rock solid.
@Reply #2 - good point! Tho in my experience, Tilta is actually a better bet for high-stakes wedding shoots. Over the years, I've found generic stuff fails due to loose machining tolerances.
The SmallRig FX3 / FX30 Full Cage 4183 and SmallRig Sony Alpha 7S III Cage 2999B are fantastic options! Both use multiple mounting points for amazing stability and safety!
