Recently purchased a Sony a7C II for both photography and 4K video work. Looking for SD card recommendations that can handle the high bitrate video without buffering issues. What speed class/capacity should I prioritize? Any specific brands that work reliably with this camera? TIA.

For the a7C II I’d stick to UHS‑II V60 SD cards as the “sweet spot.” They’re fast enough for basically everything the camera does (including high-bitrate video and long bursts) without paying the premium for V90.

Good picks:

If you only shoot stills/light video, a good UHS‑I V30 works too, but you’ll notice slower buffer clearing.

I've been using the Sony a7C II for a couple of months now, and my go-to SD card has been the SanDisk Extreme Pro V90. It not only handles high-resolution 4K video with ease but also offers excellent reliability for extended photo shoots. I recommend getting one with at least 128GB if you often shoot in burst mode or record long videos. Just make sure you buy from a reputable source to avoid counterfeit issues.

Also use SanDisk card. works well.

Lexar Professional 1066x cards are my go-to for the a7C II. They're usually a bit cheaper than SanDisk but perform just as well. Make sure whatever you get has V30 minimum if you plan on doing any video work. I learned that lesson the hard way when my older V10 card started stuttering during 4K recording.

Any UHS-II SD card is recommended.

For 4K video on the a7C II, prioritize a UHS-II V60 or V90 SD card. 128GB+ is a good starting capacity. While V90 offers higher theoretical speeds, V60 is often sufficient and more budget-friendly. Reliable brands include Sony, SanDisk, and Lexar. Check reviews for real-world performance.
