Hey everyone! I've been glued to all the rumors and leaks about the new Sony a7 V, and I'm beyond excited for its official announcement. My current a7 III is showing its age, and I'm really hoping to upgrade to the V as soon as humanly possible, especially knowing how fast new Sony bodies tend to sell out. Has anyone spotted any official pre-order links go live yet for the Sony a7 V? I'm constantly refreshing B&H, Adorama, and even Sony's own site, but haven't seen anything concrete. Any tips on which retailers might open pre-orders first, or if there's a specific time usually? Really keen to get my order in early!

Just a quick thought from someone who's stuck with the a7 series since the original... tbh while everyone is hammerin the refresh button on the big sites, I've had way better luck with the smaller authorized dealers over the years. My previous bodies realy came faster because I went through local channels instead of the huge warehouses that get thousands of orders at once. Here are a couple things I always do for the long game:
* Check Focus Camera or Samy's Camera—they sometimes get shipments that dont sell out in seconds like the massive retailers.
* Call a local brick-and-mortar shop and see if they have an 'interest list' under the counter. Sometimes you can get on a verbal list before the web pages even go live. It reallyyy pays off to think outside the box if you want it day one. Plus, local shops usually treat long-term customers pretty well with extra sensor cleanings or small perks later on!

I totally agree with the point about local shops—it's usually way less stressful than fighting the bots on the big sites. Jumping in here, I'm actually gonna wait for the first round of deep-dive testing before I pull the trigger. Tbh, specs are one thing, but I’m looking for actual benchmarks to see what we're really working with. * Check for rolling shutter comparisons; if the sensor readout isn't significantly faster than the IV, the electronic shutter might still be a bit limited for what I'm looking for.
* Keep an eye out for buffer clearing speeds, especially using the Sony CEA-G Series CFexpress Type A cards to see if it finally solves that old a7 III lag. Basically, I wanna see some real-world raw files and thermal stress tests before I decide if it's the upgrade I've been waiting for. I'm kinda uncertain if the new processor will really fix the overheating issues some people had with the IV, so that's something I'm keeping an eye on. It’s a lot of money to drop just based on a teaser, you know?

Just saw this thread and honestly the hype is real lol. I'm still kinda learning the ropes with how Sony does these big launches, but I've been lurking in a few community groups and everyone has such different expectations for this one. Before I look into more of what people are saying about the best ways to grab one, I gotta ask: * What's the main thing ur actually missing on ur a7 III right now?
* Are you mostly doing video work or sticking to stills? Just curious because some people think it's gonna be a huge leap for video while others are just hoping for better AI autofocus tbh. It might change which reviews or community threads are actually worth watching!

Hey there! I totally get that rush and excitement you're feeling for the a7 V, especially coming from an a7 III – that's a solid jump! I've been through this dance countless times with new Sony bodies, from the original a7 III launch to the a7 IV and even the a1, so I've got some first-hand experience to share on how these pre-order windows usually play out.

**Background Info:** Honestly, you're not missing anything right now because those official pre-order links won't go live *until* Sony makes the official announcement. This isn't like a game console where retailers might jump the gun. For a major camera body like the a7 V, Sony controls that narrative very tightly. So, all that refreshing you're doing is definitely understandable, but it's likely a bit premature for actual pre-order pages.

**Why it Matters:** The reason everyone gets so antsy, as you rightly pointed out, is how fast these things sell out. Being prepared is key, but blindly refreshing isn't the most efficient strategy. The real trick is knowing *when* and *where* to look the moment the announcement drops.

**Solution:** My best advice, based on my past experiences, is to shift your focus slightly. Instead of just refreshing B&H or Adorama, make sure you're signed up for *email notification lists* on all the major retailers (B&H, Adorama, Amazon, Sony Direct, even smaller ones like Moment or Samy's Camera if you have them locally). These lists are generally your fastest alert system, often beating manual refreshing by a few crucial minutes.

Also, and this is big, keep a very close eye on the major photography news sites like Sony Alpha Rumors, DPReview, and PetaPixel. They usually have the official announcement time locked down and will often update their articles with direct pre-order links *the second* Sony's official event concludes. In my experience, pre-orders almost always open immediately after the official reveal, sometimes even while a livestream is still running.

That said, I would also suggest a touch of caution. While it's great to be an early adopter, sometimes waiting just a few weeks for initial reviews to drop can be beneficial. You avoid potential day-one bugs and get a clearer picture of its real-world performance against the sticker price. The initial price point can be steep, and sometimes patiently waiting offers a better value proposition or a clearer understanding of potential long-term costs. But if you're set on being first, definitely prioritize those email notifications and stay glued to the major photo news sites during the expected announcement window. Good luck, hope you snag one quickly!

Hey everyone! OMG, the a7 V buzz is absolutely fantastic, and I'm beyond excited for what it *could* bring! But seriously, while you're refreshing, let's talk strategy. From a cautious, professional angle, I strongly recommend holding off on day-one pre-orders. New flagship releases often come with initial firmware quirks or even minor production issues that get addressed in later batches. Plus, those early prices can be quite steep! Seriously, waiting a few weeks post-launch allows for proper review cycles to drop, giving us critical insights into real-world performance like thermal management and sensor readout. It's a huge investment, so getting it right is key!

Hey there! Oh, I totally get that pre-order fever, especially coming from an a7 III. I've been there myself, glued to the refresh button for the a9 II launch, thinking I had to be absolutely first. Unfortunately, that specific experience taught me a bit of a lesson. I managed to snag one of the initial batches, but honestly, there were some minor, albeit annoying, firmware quirks that took a few updates to iron out. It wasn't as polished as I expected straight out of the gate, which was a bit disappointing after the hype.

Regarding pre-order links, you're doing exactly what everyone else is, refreshing the big names. But honestly, sometimes being *first* doesn't mean *best*. From what I've seen over the years, those very first production runs can sometimes have minor consistency quirks – things like sensor calibration or even early firmware stability that often get quietly ironed out in later batches. So, if you don't see anything pop up on the big sites really soon, my tip would be to also keep an eye on some of the smaller, authorized specialty camera stores. Sometimes their allocation is a bit different, or they might open pre-orders without as much fanfare. However, I'd honestly consider holding off for the first wave of independent technical reviews before pulling the trigger, just to ensure the initial units are truly robust. Good luck!
