I am honestly so fed up with my Feelworld monitor it keeps dropping the HDMI signal randomly mid-shoot and im just done. I was on a shoot yesterday and the screen went black three times while recording client testimonials. It is so embarrassing. I just upgraded to the Sony a7R VI and the camera is amazing but I desperately need a reliable external monitor that actually works with it.
I have another big real estate video shoot next Thursday here in Chicago and I need to order something ASAP. My budget is around 500 to 700 dollars. I need something bright enough for outdoor shooting because the Sony screen is just too small and hard to see in daylight.
What are you guys using with the a7R VI that actually maintains a stable connection and doesnt overheat after 20 minutes? I was looking at the Atomos Shinobi or maybe a Portkeys model but I dont want to waste more money on something that glitches out...

Unfortunately my Shinobi overheated outdoors, not as good as expected. I saved some cash getting the Portkeys LH5P II 5.5-inch 2200nit Camera Monitor instead.
- Rock solid HDMI connection
- Bright enough for daylight

Regarding what #1 said about the Shinobi overheating, I had the exact same issue outdoors. It is not as good as expected for bright daylight. Instead, I went with the Atomos Ninja 5.2-inch 1000nit HDR Monitor Recorder. It is around 599 dollars. The built-in fan completely solves the overheating issue, and the HDMI connection is incredibly stable with Sony bodies.

Are you shooting 4K or just 1080p? Honestly, just go with SmallHD, their screens are amazing!
